Default Odd

I had similar situations occur a few times this session while trying to get value out of my TPTK hands.. Not just against this unknown villain, but others too... I'm wondering what the correct move is.. I prolly shove & see 55 huh?

Bet the flop. Shove the turn.

that is def. a bizarre line by villain, but without a read i think you have to fold here and wait for a better spot.

side note: why didn't you bet the flop?

I'd do this too. Because you didnt c-bet villain might think you missed and try to steal the pot.

There's hardly a justification for not cbetting that flop OOP. In position a check behind can be justified because this is a so called "way ahead way behind" spot. Against an uknown I'm betting all 3 streets.

As played... obviously depends on the villain. If he's a huge spewtard I get it in, if he's a station type fish I snap fold. Against an unknown I just fold. The fact that he put half of his stack in there alone makes me believe he's got AK beat and you probably would have noticed by now if he's a maniac or something.

If you're checking the flop to trap and disguise your hand against an overly aggressive villain, which is what I'm assuming you're doing, you absolutely have to call here. It is a great play and if you've seen someone stealing a lot, you should call. He might have a strong draw here, like [3d xd] or maybe even a flush draw w/ gutshot and pair, but he's rarely showing up with two pair here. He's fallen for your trap and you must trust your read.

If you're checking behind for no reason other than playing fancy, then you must fold. You're not getting enough justification to play such a big pot with a hand as weak as tptk.

I'll check tptk on certain flops if I see that my opponent likes to steal and let him do the betting for me, but checking tptk for no reason other than to try to be sneaky is sub-optimal play and strong neg eV long run.
