It is very rare to ever hear of someone being down more than 10 buyins unless they are really getting outplayed.
Background info: I have money behind what is in my poker account though it would be a shame if I had to tap into that. Not a big deal at all, though, financially.
What I did was I was rolled for 20NL in my account. I then played 20NL for like a day and jumped to 50NL with like 11.x buyins. Now I am up to like 16 buyins but I have been running probably above average.
Here is my case against you bankroll nits..
I gave up more profit per hour and took a risk to jump up to 50NL. However, everyone gets paid in 2 coins- dollars and experience. So far, I am happy with my choice to be a little more liberal with bankroll management & get the experience.
Another example is Galfond who, during his history, was playing 60,000 NL with a 400,000 bankroll. Of course, everyone's situation is different but there are plenty of examples of aggressive bankroll management that pay off.
