Default using stats: AF

hey guys,

recently realised that we actually give player stats as following:

VPIP / PFR / AF (I had in mind VPIP / PFR / 3BET-PRE)

However, I'm not used to really analyse AF. I know how it's calculated and therefore it can reach from 0- Inf.

Could someone quickly explain what a low and a high AF is, normally? What do you think is an aggro player? 10+? Weak/passiv will probably be less than 1.
What should my AF be, when I try to play a TAG Style like 21/19/x?

thanks

I would like to hear other opinions cause not sure about my own, anyway here they are:

<1 : complete station. Whenever you see action from him make sure you have or drawing to the nuts

1-2 : somewhat less than moderate aggression. I think the main thing is he plays draws passively like always

2-4 : semibluffs are definitely in his range

~4-5 : aggro, bluffy

more : maniac!

Eh, sort of.

AF is a ratio of bets/raises to calls. Note it doesn't take into account checks or folds.

The lower someone's VPIP:PFR ratio, the higher their AF will be naturally.

But nits can have very high AFs since they're playing v. strong ranges.

A 25/5/2 is vastly different and much more aggressive postflop than a 23/20/2.

Hope that helps.

My personal AF is between 3 and 4. I wouldn't go below 2 for sure.

As for a 21/19, somewhere between 2.5 and 4 is ideal.

....because he needs to kinda make up for all his limps pre. and therefore, if he still reaches a value of 2, we expect him to play more aggressiv on each later street.
the 23/20/2 has some of his AF value, from preflop play and appears to play more passiv on the later streets.
Right?

It doesn't really matter what are we drawing to, as long as it beats the current nuts. If we have 4 high flushdraw against 30/20/0.7 guy who checkraises K59 twotone, our equity against his range is almost similar that it would be with nutfd.

This is not omaha, where he could be valueraising draws (like wrap+nutfd).

Overall, I think AF is somewhat useless stat unless you have datamined stats, since over a small sample it doesn't really tell you anything and over a big sample (ie. he's a regular at your games) you should have better idea about his game anyway than that stat gives you.

Of course all extra info is good, but I don't usually use it as much as other stats I have on my hud (vpip/pfr, cbet/fcbet, 3bet/f3b). Something like how often someone folds to cbet is goes unnoticed much easier, but if you see someone raising gutshot, tptk or something less usual like that on the flop, you'll usually remember it.
