I loved playing at Cake about a year ago. The 33% rakeback was a huge help to build my bankroll as well as the deposit bonus was obviously nice to start. Recently they lost some of their sportsbook players though and I've heard the tables aren't quite as soft. I actually just did a 10NL video at Cake Poker and I liked their software updates. It was way better than it was in the past. Since you have Cake account, you can check out Doyle's Room which is on the same network. Doyle's Room Rakeback and Bonus offers.

I've heard some good things about the Merge network recently, which is where all the sportsbook players from Cake actually went. They have a 35% rakeback deal and actualy pay every day which has been neat. I've only played here for a few hours though. I don't like the software very much, but I've played at worse. Here's more details about Carbon Poker's rakeback and bonus offers.

I've played at ALOT of sites, always end up back at FTP. Just cant beat the software and player field.

I think Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars are going to be two of the top choices in the end purely because of the software and amount of players at them.

I think once you get to the higher limits 100NL+, you should probably have part of your bankroll on one of these sites for when the games aren't good at the smaller networks.

Cake is ownage (in a way). For the time being you can easily get over 50% rake back. Here is how:

1- constantly redeposit money (this will allow you to get deposit bonus- check your email for offers)
2- have rakeback
3- place in the rake races
4- they give you these little $8 bonuses, $20 if you clear it fast, though that is virtually impossible. I think that I got 2 of these for the month.
5- gold coins/ gold cards

Last month, I did like 891 in MGR
$150 in the rake race (still waiting for payment but it looks like that is where I placed)

so without even deposits, I hit around 52-53% back + gold cards + gold coins.

Now all we need is for someone to crack down on the rake race abuse.

Trikkur, in terms of the plan that I laid out, do players get penalized to their MGR if they are constantly withdrawing and depositing to take advantage of the reload (aka deposit) bonuses?

Trikkur 12-07-2010 01:17 AM

You are going to be taking some hits for the bonuses, but I'm not sure about the deposits. You can ask our support in the bonuses rakeback section and he'll know for sure because he can look it up.

Either way, it is going to be more than juts rakeback alone. I used to do this with their reload bonuses and it was like 45+% I think. Plus I didn't even have the rake races back in the day and honestly those are a killing. For less than 1k MGR (which is no problem for 50NL players and probably even 25NL; you got $150. That is a huge boost and probably puts you over 50% even with a few deductions.

I got the info from support for you guys. Here it is ....

Hello! Your rakeback will not be affected by MGR deductions at Cake. They WILL affect your standings in the Cake rake race that we hold each month, but they will not affect your actual rakeback. If you view your rakeback statistics in the Cake software, you will see spending Gold Chips or Cards does not take away from your rakeback. But you will see these deductions if you view your rakeback stats at PokerTrikz. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Regards, -Chris

So it should still be + EV to take advantage of deposit bonuses.

thanks for posting this thread, I am also have the same question and I want to get some tips on which poker sites is the best, I haven't tried other poker sites yet (hopefully, I can try it all) and hopefully that those sites gives better bonuses for a novice like me :)

Good news. It seems Red Star Poker has reopened to US players. If you were looking to take advantage of the Cake Network's rakeback offers, then now is the time. At Red Star you can get 33% rakeback like Cake, but instead of 110% up to $600 you get 250% up to $1500 deposit bonus. That's a pretty sick deal for anyone looking to deposit ~$500-600.
