Default Depositing through Western Union

Does anyone know how this works? When I click on the deposit option in the poker software it asks me how much I want to deposit, say I put 500 in the box. When I go to the Western Union office they will deduct a processing fee from that 500 dollars wont they? Say 15 dollars. So does that mean I'm only going to get 485 into my poker account? Or do I pay the processing fee on top of that?

More than likely when you send the money you will fill out the form for $500. They will then charge you the fees on top of it at the office and you would pay $5xx.

After much hassle and confusion, I finally got the email back from Black Chip saying that you just fill out the amount you want to send and they'll take the processing fee from that, then Black Chip will help cover the fee.

For example, I'm gonna deposit $550.00 tomorrow, so I write that on the Western Union slip, they take the fee out of that. With your first non-credit card deposit Black Chip gives you a free $30. This is to cover fees and is not released in increments as a bonus but instead as a whole.

So, good news is I'll soon be back on the forums.
Bad news is I'll be playing poker again haha.

BTW, Trikkur, how big is the chance of US goverment seizing assets of other poker rooms who accept FTP/Stars/Absolute players?

Probably not as knowledgable as trikkur on the subject, but from what ive read funds arent at very high risk for seizure. The reason the big 3 got taken was because they were processing funds through fraudulent bank accounts.

then I don't get why FTP/PS used illegal bank schemes when there is a "safe" way to process money (like you did now)

Default Trikkur is right`

I Deposited $300.00 to Carbon Poker and Western Union charged me $12.00 for the person to person tranfer. Total cost $312.00

Make sure that you send the full amount you said you wanted to deposit.

Pod it was cheaper for PS/FTP to have you send a bank transfer then person to person, Plus with person to person you have to mail out a check when someone wants to cash out. Last its more of a pain for you to go to Western Union and send money person to person. The 2006 law was passed to make it harder for people to deposit and cash out.

If anyone wants black chip $, let me know.

As for the risk of the remaining sites, that is a long and complicated question.

I would say that the risk had been underestimated for a couple of weeks. today, though, someone at Quad Jacks was flipping out that it's not safe and his reasoning what completely off. I think that there is going to be an overestimate of the risk of these sites after that tirade and UMW news that came out. Fear will probably settle down in about 3 weeks..

How much does it change if you will deposit via WU? Is it cheaper than other options?
