Default Living on the wrong side of earth

So i live in the middle part of Sweden and it´s getting pretty cold now when the winter is at my door soon, and i´ve started to get a little bit tired of the winter. It was more fun when i was a kid but now it´s just cold and dark (it gets down to -35 degrees celsius sometimes).
So my main goal with poker is that i´m gonna eventually quit my job and make a living as a poker player. I´m aiming for the year of 2011 to be my big year when i quit my job. I play 100nl now and i´m really dedicated to learning poker everyday, reading forums watching videos and off course playing poker. I have a girlfriend and 1 kid and another kid coming (we´ve been together for 9 years) and she´s supporting me in my dreams to become a full time poker player.
So one thing that really came into my mind one day was that when i go playing fulltime poker we can move wherever we want in the hole world cause all i need is a laptop and internet !!! Fantastic !! So i can basically move to where the weather is the best

I have to keep my dream alive and one day it´s gonna happen...... i hope

Just wanna thank all of you guys in the forums for the great posts and a big thankyou to Trikkur for the absolut great pokersite and great videos and loltrickedyou, great videos and inspiration.

Good luck with that dream of yours man, I wish you all the best for that.

But I honestly doubt that living elsewhere would solve your problem permanently. If you get used to the part of the world you live in, boredom will come sooner or later if you're the kind of person that desires changes. Being a poker pro and travel from one nice country to the next, seeing thousands of interesting places would obv be ideal then.

I like good snowy winters. It's the most comfortable time of the year, and definitly the one where sitting in front of a PC 24/7 makes you no bad conscience (when you feel you should be outside enjoying the sun and do something for your health in summer )
In Germany it's raining most of the time both in winter and in summer. That sucks and makes depressive from time to time.

yea i am graduating in ~8 months and am trying to figure out what i am going to do. I spend every other week out in california and i really like it there, always warm and sunny lots of stuff to do. So i am thinking about moving here but also i have talk to some poker players who live in and around Europe and they love it.

I think Americans get in this mindset that we live in "the best country in the world" whatever its arguable im not here to share that point. However with that mindset we feel like we have to live here but i have started to look outside the country at various grad schools and things are very very appealing. Im having some trouble finding programs that i am interested in but places like london, malta, and ireland all sound very appealing and i really really want to at some point in my life live outside the us. I figure when im younger its better time then ever.

You should absolutely try to live somewhere else at least for a while.
I lived in Los Angeles some years ago, studyin music and that was a great time for me. It was the first time i moved from my parents and i moved halfway around the planet , and they weren´t very impressed about it, he he.
But the thing is that today the world is so small, you can travel all around the world in just one day if something should happen to your family back home you can be there in like 12 hours.
Life moves soooooo fast and the worst thing you can do is sitting back home and just dreaming about what your life could be like and never do anything about it. It´s gonna be depressing when you´re old sitting there saying " i should´ve done this and that".

A friend of mine told me that when his parents got older and it was time to send his mother to a place where they take care of old people when they can´t take care of themself (don´t know the word in english), his mother said to his father that she only had one regret, and that was marrying you.....!!! They had been married for like 50 years, lol that´s crazy.

Funny, i moved from Southern California to Sweden (Skåne) I know what you mean about the weather k-off, it sucks. I too am looking to eventually make my living at poker. This way I can leave during the winters and come back during the summers, if I so choose.

Ha ha ha, can´t beilive you moved to skåne when you could´ve stayed in carlifonia
So what´s the reason you moved? Don´t tell me a girl was involved in it
Well i have to say the winters are much better up where i live cause at least we get snow instead of rain during winter. But it can be cold as hell sometimes and the winter is looooooooooong.
My girlfriend is from Borås and that´s not long from Skåne actually, it´s like 250 km.

I lived in sweden for 10 years

Its actually pretty nice and not that cold (skaane)

You might do a combo - only leaving Sweden during the winter.

And i know its hard to believe when your looking at -35 but theres also a thing like to hot especially when your scandinavian.

Just try 2 weeks in Las Vegas during the summer - to hot outside and to cold inside and its a terrible place. Pretty girls, nice food and fantastic poker but i would prefer Boraas even in the winter.

Ja everyone I talk to says the same thing, Why did you move to Sweden. Like I tell them, I lived all my life in California and to move to Sweden with the Swedish girls was like a no brainer. I have to agree that I would like the winters better if I was further up north. Here in Skåne we get mostly rain, wind and slush. Not at all fun.

Yes, I moved here because of a girl

My wife and I visited Vegas this past July. I have to say that is was hotter than two lizards nuts on a hot tin roof. After spending an hour or two in the casinos I had to go outside to unthaw and then 5 minutes later back inside.
