Default Any dog breeders or shiba inu owners?

The girlfriend and I are looking to purchase a Shiba Inu puppy and have been contacting the 3 breeders in our state. I was wondering if any dog breeders out there can give me some tips on what breeders are actually looking for in buyers. I had to fill out a questionnare on the one breeeder's website and I'm kinda afraid. We live in an apartment, I have allergies, and we don't have a vet as a reference. I don't think any of these are huge problems since Shiba Inu's are nototorius for being great apartment dogs, I can handle the allergies, and there are plenty of vets and groomers in the area. Do you think I'm going to get turned down for any of these?

Now for Shiba Inu owners, I really just want to hear your experiences. It seems like a perfect dog for Kyra and I, but the one thing I'm worried about is I read a lot about it just taking off unexpectadly and not listening. I fully plan on keeping him or her on a leash when we go for walks, but is it really as bad as it seems? Anything else you can tell me would be awesome.

Thanks

There are way too many dogs in our country. At least look at rescues before you pay someone to exacerbate this problem. Even if you have your heart set on one breed, there are breed-specific rescue societies all over the place.

I just received back a call from the breeder. They have 2 puppies, but too young to know if they are show quality or pet quality. They have 1 dog that is a year old that they were showing, but apparently the dog didn't enjoy being in the show ring. We are going up to see her tomorrow. We kind of were looking for a puppy, but neither of us mind a dog that is only a year old either.

The whole allergies thing sucks for sure, but I'm tough. I'll go buy some allergy pills and fight through it. My dad has allergies and lives with 2 dogs and 2 cats, so it can be done. Plus I think a dog is enough +EV to make up for the -EV from the allergies
