I think on almost any online game you will be scammed if you give the opportunity to the other person. I never trust anyone i meet online.

I used to play a lot, but quit. Recently I decided I wanted to do some drafts and Modo makes it pretty fast.

So the trick to being good at poker is to play magic?

I was still up at 7:30am on Monday. That's right before I got to bed normally.

And yea, being good at magic normally translates to poker. The other way around, not so much though. Magic is actually a better game imo. It's harder, but more fun and more interactions. The money just isn't there though.

WHUUUUT? You guys play MtG?

MtG was my bread an butter game in the years before I discovered poker ^^
Honestly, it's a thousand times better than poker. It's hands down the best card game that was ever invented on this planet.
I played as often as I could at the biggest Type 1 and 1,5 Tounreys that where held in Germany, I even played in the 2004 (i believe it was that year) France Vintage Championship in Paris. I hang around the big magicsites, studied decks, meet with buddies an testet decks and strategy, wrote articles/reports for forums...

But the Vintage games drew smaller and smaller, and somewhere after finishing school I decided I didn't want to own my 3000$ deck anymore instead of a car, and Type 1 doesn't earn you money, but costs a lot, so I sold everything I collected in years at ebay.
I always told me I would start playing magic again as soon as I can afford to spend the money and the time. Just for balancing poker or something...

I used the magic online programms only to test out new decks, I never played with an opponent on the internet, but I doubt that the online game is the same as life play. Poker is different, you basically play to make money. But when you play magic, you love to collect your rare cards (like signed foil japanese Fact or Fiction, Beta dual lands and stuff), add new beauties to your deck and to tapping your attackers with a cool move, not with a mouseclick.

That game is so great...it been a long time since, but I can't help to think about it every once in a while, even more considering magicorigins to be so common for many pokerplayers.

I was primarily a T2 player and had a 1980+ rating at one point. I had a bad tournament at the last Regionals and dropped down to ~1900 and that was the last live tourney I played. I never played much T1 because, as you said, it was so expensive. I played a bit on Magic Workstation, but never anything live.

It is a great card game, though the last few sets have been disappointing to me. I actually wrote for Brainburst for a paid writing job for a while. It was around the same time I started getting into poker and making money.
