I disagree with a lot of your assessment on Code Geass. I think in no way are the last episodes drawn out because they are all setting up for the finale. It's really hard for me to discuss stuff without giving it away, but I think it was all masterfully done and as you said the final episode might be the greatest final episode of any anime I've watched.

Quote:
But this anime is still way below Death Note for me. Too many cheap and 100-times-seen topics (like OH MY GOD, A NEW KNIGHTMARE, MORE EQUIPMENT, MORE POWERFUL THEN THE LAST 87 KNIGHTMARES, AND HE ALONE CAN TURN THE TIDES OF THE BATTLE!!!111!!111!)
I think it's not nearly like this. Sure it get's annoying that there are the superpowerful Knightmares that wipe out tons of other ones, but they make it pretty clear that there are 2 mechs that are stronger than all the other ones and it stays like that all the way through. Sure they show other powerful ones, but not to the extent of the 2 main ones.

In the end it only came down to billions of dead ppls and some lame happy ends for a small number of uninteresting characters.
The billions of people dead is kind of the point though. I won't go into more details because again, it gives it away, but yea...

As per the happy ending for a small number of characters, I think this is done so much differently than any other anime. It doesn't fit the OMG, let's all just be happy and get along predictable endings. Even Death Note's ending is predictable and annoying, where Code Geass executes it much better.

I do agree that the mecha theme is teh worst part of the anime, but that's just because I'm not a huge fan of mecha themes anyway. If you take it purely from the stance of a drama anime, I think it's extrememly well done.

You don't have any series to watch? Wow...Trikkur's running out of anime, unbelievable.
I'm definatley not running out of anime, just anime that I think is exceptional. I've started like 4 animes and none of them are amazing. I'm just so sick of samurai, swords, and vampires anymore. They are all done the same and none of them stand out to me. The worst part is I love Vampire Lore, but animes just kill it for me. I've about 6 episodes into both Star Ocean EX, Claymore, Juuni Kokki, and none of them are grabbing my attention. I'll watch a few episodes of Black Blood Brothers right now. It's only 12 episodes so if it's any good I'll just finish it today.

EDIT: Well Black Blood Brothers was not in English, so I have to redload it, might have to wait until tomorrow.

What I meant concerning the mechas was this:
There is a random battle, Lancelot comes up und crushes the party, then Karen saves everybody...
Next random battle, weird scientist has modified lancelot with some new equipment and he's slashing billions of generation-whatever knightmares BUT WAIT suddenly karen shows up with the newest model of the guren and can fight lancelot on the same level again.
In the meantime some new models from India arrive and the whole enchilada is updatet with the newest goodies again.
And the next battle Lancelot can fly, so does Karen, and some other random characters join the air wing Knightmares.
Now that everybody in the anime can fly they improve the weapons.
First of all -of course- lancelot is killing the next billion ppls with his new allmighty hedron blast, just to see that everyone wields that weapon the very next fight
and so on, and so on, and so on...
This unexciting circle continues until no further ridicolous increasment in technology is possible and every single knightmare seems to contain the power to destroy the world.

I'm sorry, but if a series contains such -as i said- cheap elements of exaggeration, it's disappointing. It was way too much of this hyper-fast-action stuff in the last episodes...it had a great finish, but the way before was a strong bit out of the optimum. I couldn't believe in the characters anymore, because they where forced into actions that seem unlogical compared to their ealier behaviour, attitude and motivations, just for justification of this enormous close-to-armaggeddon finish.

But I guess it all comes down to specific likes and dislikes.

I'm pretty sure I will watch Death Note again in the near future, so that I have more options for a comparisement. It's quite a long time since I watched it. Maybe my memories are too optimistic.

Ok, I finished Black Blood Brothers today. I'm not going to say it's bad, but it's not really good either I don't think. With as many characters they introduce and storylines there are, they probably should of made this about 50 episodes instead of 12. I just don't understand the point to it all. We get intrduced to this extremely powerful vampire Sei, yet for some reason he just doesn't wipe out everything (which he kinda does). We see Zelman as antoher extremely powerful vampire that is willing to protect everything, yet again, we have to watch Jirou fighting for some reason. I just don't get the point of having this many characters.

We also never learn much about the Kulong King, which sounds like it would be an intersteing story line. We don't know much about why Alice was betrayed by Katha or anything past glimpses of the past.

I can't even explain half of it because they have so many characters and stories that are so useless or make the main storyline usless because they are just stronger than everything else.

Maybe I just missed the whole point of it all, but I was left asking "Is that all?"

Maybe I'll finish Claymore now, but the animation is one of my least favorites and that time era bores me normally.

Maybe I'm too picky ???

BBB is pretty much the most unfinished series I've ever seen. I liked the few episodes alot when I watched them, but that there is nothing even close to a finish (well, I don't think the whole story has even really started yet) is a disappointment. I agree that this should've been at least 50 episodes long. I don't know, maybe it was a project where the producers run out of money but still decided to throw into the market what they already had.

I think it's still worth watching if a good, 12 episodes-long anime is what you're searching for.

I just finished Claymore. It was pretty good, but I don't think it breaks into my top 10 anime either. It had a decent story line, but I thought they missed a lot of opportunities. I would of liked to meet Rank 1 and 2 and see them fight some. Also it's pretty apparent there are a few chapters of the manga missing.

Maybe it's time to watch some Bleach.

I've been watching Bleach these last 2-3 days. I'm up to episode 28 and it's a good show. This is much more my style. The very animated, action, adventure, comedy style is very entertaining to me.

I think Naruto might be better, but I've still got plenty of episodes to go. I'll probably try to put other anime on hold for a while until I get this mostly done. It'll be a while, but I've been breezing through it so far.

Yea Code Geass is soooooo good. It's like a mech sub theme mixed with a psychological/poltical theme.

I assume you've already watched it if you are a mech fan, but Neon Genesis Evangelion is pretty decent and pretty much created the mech theme as we know it.

I've watched Last Exile and yes it was very good. Beautiful animation and a decent story line. It kept my attention through out.

Neon Genesis was the next series I finished after Last Exile really got me back into Anime.
Glad to hear Code Geass is good, I will definitely check it out.

So I'm up to episode 50 in Bleach, it's been pretty solid so far. I'll definitely keep watching it for the time being.

Naruto Shippuuden has been good recently as well. I do hope we can get back to Naruto soon though. Shikamaru is interesting, but we just got to the good parts of Naruto's training regime.

The 2nd season of Vampire Knight started. I watched the first episode and realized I didn't remember any of the names from the first season. So instead of watching it weekly, I'll just wait until it's been fully released and go back and watch season 1 and 2 at the same time.

Anyone else need some recommended animes? I've watched a pretty wide variety and could probably help you out with a few choices.
