I have finally completed Bleach (well I'm dloading 202 right now). It's a solid anime, but I like Naruto better both the first half and Shippuuden. I'll of course keep watching it every week though.

I'm getting the 2nd episode of Hajime no Ippo as well. Now I've got 3 animes to keep up with every week. YAY!

Now I've really got to make up my mind on the next stuff. I might go with Vampire Knight Guilty or Magipoka that someone mentioned recently.

I'm not going to dig through 20 pages of posts, but are you the one that had never watched anime before and asked which one to start on?

If so, that's awesome. I'll warn you though, Naruto starts to get slow around then I think. There's a lot of filler in the next 120 episodes.

Yeah, I'm the one that watched Code Geass but didn't like it much, then ended up getting sucked into the whole thing nevertheless ^_^

Wikipedia tells me that starting from episode 135, the last 80 or so episodes of Naruto are fillers (stuff that weren't in the manga, and was made up for the anime in order to give manga time to get ahead from the anime). Is that where it starts to get slow, or is it slow already in the last bits covering the manga? Will I miss anything if I don't watch the fillers at all?

Also, what's up with the movies? Do they fit anywhere in the anime storyline? Does it make the most sense to watch them after the first anime series?

Should I ever get through the first anime series, I don't think I'll be watching Shippuuden before it's finished. I don't like making a pause at a random spot through the storyline and I don't have the patience to wait a week for every new episode ><

Yea, it's just a lot of fillers. You won't really miss anything at all by skipping them. I personally watched them all and enjoyed it, but they do get repetitive quickly. It could be for a lot of reasons; catch up to manga, keep making money, etc.

The movies can be watched pretty much anytime. I'd probably just wait until you finish the first series though and watch them. Just in case there are some random spoilers (i dont think there is though)

Shippuuden is really good btw. I watch it ever week and I understand if you would want to wait until it's finished, but you are missing out. You can always just watch it until the end of a story arch and then stop.

I'll probably give the fillers a try and then stop when I don't like it.

Do you like it more than the original series?

Yeah, I considered this, but for an example the first series so far doesn't contain any points where I would be content with going on a hiatus, and even if Shippuuden does, I can't make that sure without spoilers. Is there any particular good spot to stop in Shippuuden so far?

With Hunter x Hunter and Bleach out there, it'll be a long time before I could run out of this type of anime anyway :P

Shippuuden is better than Naruto. And there are quite a few logical stop points during Shippuuden if you would decide to watch it.

You shoudl watch Hunter x Hunter next. It's so so so so good. I dont think everyone on here has watched it yet, but it's by far my #1 favorite.

I really enjoy this genre of anime, so I know another 3 as well you might like. Fullmetal Alchemist, Get Backers, and Shaman King. They are all very similar genres and I like them all. I would probably watch these 3 before Bleach as well.

Bleach is just so damn long, you could watch 3 of the above animes in the same time and get infinite more enjoyment. I would rather wait on the mega animes and enjoy smaller series here and there.

EDIT: I forgot to include Avatar the Last Airbender on the list. It's better than Get Backers and Shaman King. It's an american cartoon, but it's done very anime-ish. I loved it.

Haha, thanks for more suggestions, you don't seem to remember but Fullmetal Alchemist was your no. 1 suggestion to me and I liked it

I was going to watch Hunter x Hunter next, but for some reason I landed on a totally random episode of Naruto Shippuden and I ended up being drawn towards the wacky style. They all looked like a bunch of hobos in that episode lol, Naruto himself looks pretty funny and IIRC another guy seemed to be wearing something like a bucket or a pot for a helmet. Happened to feel like something twisted at the time and Hunter X Hunter didn't seem as crazy (is it?).

The Land of Tea race thing reminds me I probably don't have the stomach for fillers :P Although the Kakashi's mask episode was hysterical! XD

Hunter x Hunter has a more serious nature to a lot of it, but like the genre entails, it's still comedic. I think overall it has the best story line and character development. 2 of my favorite anime characters come from Hunter x Hunter alone.

I enjoyed the Filler episodes in Naruto. Though some of them ran a bit longer than I wanted. It's a good show so if you are enjoying it, you might as well keep watching it. Shippuuden is really solid. It has more serious sides, but with teh standard wacky naruto stuff all the time.
