I found it with dubs if you don't mind. This is actually one of the only animes I like the dubbed voices better than the original voice acting.

I also watched the first Season of Vampire Knight and it was worth it I guess. I LOVE the drawing-style. But the story isn't too fresh I think. Reminds me of a mix of Hellsing and Trinity Blood, but here the Characters do a lot more of talking and sensless, stupid behaviour. Yuuki is kind of everyones bitch (anyone want to suck me? lol), not understanding anything going on in her world. Zero is whining all the time, crwaling on his knees like half of every episode, giving a perfect example of an anti-hero. Such characters drive me crazy. There could have been A LOT more cool vampire-slaughter action instead of that sometime way too boring character-forming. And it's quite difficult to decide who is good, bad or evil. I've heard it will turn into a really good series at the 30-40s (seems to be that way in the Manga), so I will wait for that.
The reason I liked it was because I've gotten bored with the same old vampire hack and slash animes. I've seen Hellsing and a few others just like it and Vampire Knight has the makings of a very interesting story. As you said, it seems like the story line is going to get very intricate and has the possibility to get really good.

I'm now at Episode 25 of Hikaru No Go, which was quite a surprise for me. I never thought a series about japanese Go could be so interesting and exciting. Pretty much happening the same stuff in every Episode, but there's something I can't describe that drives you deep into the characters and the story. Definitly way more decent then the game-based crap like Kickers, Mila or Yu-gi-Oh, which is shown on German television.
Seriously, I don't know what it was about this anime, but I loved it. Once you finish it, I'll talk some more about it. Once you finish it you would have watched my top 5 animes. HunterxHunter, Hikaru No Go, FMA, Death Note, and Scrapped Princess.

You have a really wide range of genres you like Trikkur, respect. I found a lot of amazing stuff for watching. Thanks a lot for that!
Yea, I used to always stick to the same type of anime, but I started branching off and love the fact that I've watched different types. I've even watched some school-life and more girly stuff like Love Hina and Chobits, and I'll be the first to admit that I would watch more of it. I just get into moods for different types of animes. Sometimes I want something action based, other times more adventure/comedy, then there are times for drama or just light hearted waste of time.

You should give me a list of your top 5 favorites. You've watched my top 5, so I want to do the same. I've still not really started one since a few days ago when I was asking.

I still have to do some annoying stuff for the university, but after that I will try to watch Conqueror of Shamballa in that dubbed version. As a japanologist I don't like other than the original synchro, but I have to deal with that i guess. I just HAVE to watch that movie again.

As for my Top 5 thats kinda difficult. My Top 3 is definitly Death Note, Berserk and Gungrave, but I could imagine a lot of good anime ranking 4 and 5.
Hunter x Hunter is good, but I dont rate a non-finished series that high besides Berserk. Because Berserk has more of a straight-foreward story while Hunter x Hunter had way more unfinished topics, or storylines so to say.
I'd say Trinity Blood could be in the Top5, Samurai Champloo and Scrapped Princess too. I guess I have to watch much more to find any really outstanding series. i will tell you then.

Check out Ergo Proxy btw. It's kinda weird and hard to understand at first (at least for me, but that may be caused by some really weird subs), but it has a very special, intense and dark atmosphere.
And for the movies: If you didnt' watch Appleseed so far you, then you have to, because it's definitly a must see if you don't totally hate sci-fi Anime with a lot of CGI. The story and art reminds of Ghost in the Shell, but with more action and way more CGI. I have still to get Appleseed Exmachina, the this year released 2nd Part...

So much for now, have to do some writing about japanese gardens now.

Edit: I just remembered a short series you should also check out: Shingetsutan Tsukihime. I watched it 2 years ago and found it pretty decent, it has just 12 episodes and is unfinished, but it's really worth watching as far as I remember. Something about a boy with the ability to see invisible lifelines in humans and objects, which he can cut. Don't know the whole plot anymore, but it was good.

I'm getting Ergo Proxy and Shingetsutan Tsukihime right now. I'm pondering starting One Piece because I've heard great things, but its so long. I'll probably put it on hold until I finish some smaller series.

I just thought of 2 more animes you might like. Shaman King is a relatively typical shohen anime, but it stands out to me more than some of the others I've watched. It's 64 episodes so a bit longer than normal, but I enjoyed it.

Another is Last Exile. This one is a bit harder to explain. It's all about airships and flying. It has some beautiful animation and scenes in it. It's 26 episodes and ranks pretty highly in that AnimeNfo list.

One Piece is probably comparable to to bleach and Naruto, isn't it? I heard something about it as it's such a successfull series, but I didn't watch it so far. I'm still watching an episode of Bleach here and there, which I started with a friend, so the watching progresses slowly and I definitly want to start another 100+ episode series as long as I didn't finish Bleach, but I will try it out someday.

Last Exile and Shaman King sounds interesting, will check that too.

Other series that come to my mind that I will try to see in the future will be Gilgamesh, Serial Experiments Lain, Comboy bebop and Ghost Hound. I already watched some episodes of each in the past but stopped for some reasons.

Ahh, and I just remembered one thing: Wolf's Rain is somewhere in the middle of the ranking at AnimeNfo I think...but that series is totally crap IMO. Honestly, if you ever consider watching that, please do so only if ur really trough all the other anime. Wolf's Rain seems to have a decent story, but after like 10 Episodes I was so bored I couldn't keep watching. there's definitly better stuff in the animeworld....

I'll watch Episode 54 of Hikaru no Go now...I'm considering starting to play Go for kind of balancing that dumb poker game. Hold'em pisses me of recently, so I need some other cool stuff where I don't have to get worried about loosing consistently 3 stacks to 2 outers per session.

HIKARU NO GO SPOILER!!!!

I'm not finished with Hikaru no Go, but I'm going on holidays this evening, so I won't have internet the next two weeks. The final has to wait...but I already watched that super-sad episode in which Sai disappeared...man...so sad...I really hope Hikaru finds a way to let him respawn somewhere.

END SPOILER

I will watch trough Basilisk during my absence, because I have that series on DVD and it's quite some time ago when I watched it the last time, so watching it again now won't be boring. It's a great series, you should check it out if you finally feel like watching samurai anime again.

I've actually decided to finish Get Backers. It's semi-okay. It actually starts off wiht like 10 filler episodes, gets good for 15 episodes, then goes back to a few filler eps, and now is getting good again. I'm hoping to finish it here in the next 2-3 days and then move on to Ergo Proxy.

ps: why don't i fall into boobs of incredibly beautifull women all day long?!!

I thought getbackers was very good imo, loved the chibby parts ! thunderking rox

I guess my favorite stays elfen lied... i'm watching bleach and naruto but haven't watched it due to the fillers, so when they are done, can anyone give me the heads up?

Those are the Hellsing OVAs you are talking about at the bottom of your post. The OVAs are better than the anime, but the anime has more storyline (obviously) since it's longer.

I decided to actually finish GetBackers for some reason. It's not relaly constructed very good. It starts off with like 10 filler episodes then it finally gets good when it gets into the limitless fortress storyline. Then it goes back to a bunch of filler episodes before they go back to the limitless fortress again. Overall it was solid, but there are a lot better animes out there. Even if you've already watched HunterXHunter, FMA, Shaman King, Naruto there are still probably better. Though the chibi parts with Ginji were awesome.I guess my biggest problem with this series is it's lack of actual plot. It seemed like there was no overriding plot to drive the story and you were only watching the individual episodes plot.

Naruto is actually finished and was pretty solid. Obviously you are going to get a bunch of filler eps in a series that long, but they were good. Naruto Shippuuden is starting to go now and has like 70 episodes It's been very good so far. Much more serious in nature and there's much better battle scenes.

Right now I'm not sure what anime I'm in the mood for. I've heard Code Geass is totally amazing so I will probably watch that or Ergo Proxy.

Later

yup, i'm watching naruto and bleach ofcourse, but atm I stopped because of the damn fillers, I really can't stand them, even though naruto is probably my favorite show(even though ichigo-hollow rox !). I'm reading the manga instead of watching the filler anime(same with bleach) and will continue to watch the anime when the fillers are over (great things to come, i will say that, i love that manga!)
Btw, i heard great things about vampire knight, you might check that out, i watched the first few of them and they were pretty great... get's great score at animenews so

You are falling behind sandervb, we both already watched Vampire Knight and discussed it

I'm actually dloading bleach now, but I'm not sure if I'll watch it soon or not. I tried to watch Code Geass yesterday, but the subtitles were all messed up so I got a new version. I'll probably start watching that today.

I've also heard if you liked Berserk you would like Claymore even better MrNutFlush so you might want to check that out.
