So Red Star Poker just opened up a store for their GOld Chips that I've been earning for 7 months now. One of the things you could buy was Amazon gift cards so I decided to get $300 worth of amazon cards. I wasn't sure what to buy at first then I decided I wanted to start building my actual dvd anime collection so I splurged and bought all of these.

Cowboy Bebop
Cowboy Bebop Movie
Chrno Crusade
FLCL
Hack Sign
Hack Root
Hack Legend of the Twilight Bracelet
Code Geass R1
Neon Genesis Platinum Edition
Elfen Lied

I was disappointed to see that you can't buy the complete sets of Hunter X Hunter, Death Note, or Hikaru No Go. I found Full Metal Alchemist but it was $250 used, so I decided to pass. I'm still happy I was able to get some decent anime to start my collection though.

My favourites are:
Claymore (OMG so good and so unknown), Code geass (R2 and R1), shippuuden, bleach and death note for shits and giggles Zoids is good though.
I have to agree with Trikkurz opening comment my first thought when i heard anime around a year ago was geek, but its so deep its amazing better written then half the crap on tv, ie lost wtf does taht even mean.....
p.s. don't bother with one piece same crap over and over and over again i watched bout 20 episodes and it was horrible it has its moments but its so long in between these moments its just not worth it IMO, its much like DBZ where nothing happens over a spaceo f 10 episodes besides Goku's hair changing colour and his voice becoming oh so masculine.

Hey Nuvan, welcome to the anime thread. Please stay with us and check out some of the ones we've recommended. With the favorites you have listed I HIGHLY recommend you checking out Hunter x Hunter and make sure you get the 3 OVAs that go with it. They are each multiple episodes. In total it will come to 92 episodes.

I would also check FullMetal Alchemist out if you haven't. I assume you've probably seen it though since most people have.

If you want to try something a little different than your normal fighting/adventure anime - Hikaru No Go. It's going to be a bit strange at first becasue it's all about a board game, but seriously give it a shot and I promise you won't be dissapointed.

Care to recommend any animes to me? I would love to try them out.

I'm halfway through Bleach now, 94 Episodes...wow....it's crazy. But at least the story is getting really decent again. 60-85 or so was a little bit boring.

I didn't watch too too much anime recently because I only got 3 weeks left before university starts again and I would have really liked to get enough money for a new laptop. I lost 1000$ in 2 Weeks now to the most brutal downswing I had so far, so the new computer plan didn't work out lol.

Somewhere in the future I will be up again, finally winning enough to buy that new thing and start to download torrents and see Code Geass...

Naruto Shippuuden was awesome this week. I'm so excited we can get another hour long episode next week too. The story is really starting to pick up between action and Naruto coming up with his new move.

And the Code Geass R2 finale was today. I think that's probably the end of the series, though they can still keep going if they really want. And I must say...

Code Geass is hands down the best anime ever made

I'm totally serious. It is Death Note, but better. It's an action anime, but better. It's so good. If you haven't watched this yet, you need to learn how to use torrents right now. I was blown away every episode this season. It was so damn good. I'm really dissapointed that it's done for now (and hopefully they just stop it now as well)

IfYouWas has a new source for Code geass, megavideo I believe, and that stream worked, so I watched the first 6 Episodes now. I really laughed when I watched the first one, because once again I noticed that I already started that anime, but for some reason didn't continue to watch. I have no idea why that is the case with so many series, must have been a busy time for me or something.

Well, so far I think it's definitly a great series, but I'll have to watch more Episodes to be able to give it credit for being the best. I still like Death Note more, simply because I prefer the shinigami theme to the mechas. But you're right trikkur, the plot has A LOT of parallels, which is nice.

We'll see.

Just wait until you get about half way into the season. The first season is probably just worse (but still amazing) than the first arc of death note. But the second season of code geass is the most amazing stuff I've ever seen. Let me know what you think, but don't give too many spoilers on the forums.

I'm watching the first season now because so many people have recommended it. I'm half way through and it is fantastic. I can't get any poker in because I'm just watching episodes whenever I have free time. Now I can't wait for the second season.

"We'll need a plane to go to Australia"
*silence while thinking*
"You're too big for a plane..."
*taking the chainsaw out of the bag*

"I'LL MAKE YOU COMPACT FOR THE PLANE!!!"

MUHAHAHAHAHAHA

That anime truly rocks. It's really getting better with every episode, that's awesome.
But what's up with the increasing violance, lesbian masturbation and big breast scenes all of sudden? The first episode could have been on morning television program for kids, but Episode 13 and above is a very different story.

Well, I'll keep watching and enjoying.
