Default Stop in and say hi!

Well, I don't think anyone has done anything along these lines and figured I'd give it a go. I've been playing holdem for about 4 years now and started out playing micro limit on Pacific Poker. I had no idea that there were other places to play for a while and when looking for laws about poker in my state, stumbled upon a website, Maryland Poker Forums. This was a site that discussed strategy and also gave a place for people to organize home games. From there, I learned of ITH (Internettexasholdem.com) where I learned how to play poker. My poker "career" ranged from playing .05/.10 limit holdem up to 10/20, tournaments from $5 to $200 buyins, and now, my NL career has started. I'm looking forward to getting ot know everyone here better and have a goal to be playing 100NL by the end of the year. It's been a bit of a rough up and down start since February, but I feel I'm learning a little bit every day and I am progressing.

So, what's your story?

I started playing SnG-style home games with friends during the Moneymaker era and started playing SnGs at Party a few years ago after watching someone constantly play on Party during law school classes. I branched out to MTTs, but played primarily SnGs for a long time, even after moving my roll to Bodog, Stars, and Full Tilt. I sometimes played cash games, but usually just to clear a bonus (8-tabling full ring usually). I also dabbled in some Omaha 8 or better.

I have transitioned to playing primarily NLHE 6-max cash over the past 6 months or so. In March, I moved my roll from Full Tilt and Stars to Absolute and Red Star. I have been improving as a cash player, but my progress has not gone as quickly as I'd hoped, which I think is due to tilt-control problems, autopiloting problems, and lack of time to spend on the game (I have a full-time job as a lawyer and have a wedding coming up in less than a month, although I try to set aside as much time as I can to play and study).

I have been playing with trikkur on cake for a while now and have come upon his site and enjoy it. I have been talking to him a lot about where he is going with it and am interested in helping out. I will hopefully be making a video this week that can be posted sometime soon. Hopefully many to come.

I started playing holdem when i was in high school with friends and stumbled upon online poker from a friend. I grinded 5-10$ sngs for a while and then moved my way to .25-.5 cash games. Before i entered college i had built a bankroll of over 6000. I have been playing cash games throughout college and dabbled in a few tournaments. Highlighted buy a finish of 77th in the 2007 WCOOP main event. Last year i logged about 800k hands on pokerstars from 50nl to 400nl. I moved to cake at the beginning of this year and have since been playing mostly 200nl and 400nl 6 max and HU. I am working on my mass multi tabling skills (9-18 tables) and honing my skills before i move up. I am excited about this site and hopefully have more in the future.

See you at the tables

My poker story... I played drunken poker with friends in high school about 2001-2003... Started playing play money on Stars in '05 to pass the time after getting away from partying so much. In late '06 I started playing for real money on AP with a free $50 from some affiliate, and I've never gone bust or deposited since then (though I came close a couple times).

I didn't play that many hands until recently, and I still don't put in a ton of hands - maybe played 100k hands in all of '07, and nearly that many so far this year. I worked my way through $10nl and $25nl in about a year with a few MTT scores along the way (won a $2 MTT on Stars, won a $2 r/a on AP, got 2nd in a few 4-180's on Stars, got 2nd in a small $5 r/a on AP).

I'm now playing $50nl with about 60 buy-ins after about $1k in cashouts. I play about 2/3 6-max and 1/3 HU. I play mostly on AP these days, but I've got like $100 on Full Tilt (rakeback account, so I want to keep it open) and I've got about $1k on Stars. I still only play about 20k hands a month, but once this semester finishes up I'm going to put in more hands and hopefully be able to support myself through the summer on poker winnings (wont take much actually).

Been just playing recreational poker with friends every now and again until now. I took a two week vaction to Vegas back in July and I played some live poker and I saw the WSOP. After that trip, I decided to get serious about poker and I have started to really study the game. Luckly I came across this site. Just from watching a few of the videos, I have already recognized some things that I was doing wrong. Just want to say thanks for any and all help I will receive in the future and I am hoping to learn a lot more

Some words about my poker history:
Last year some friends taught me to play poker and I lost about 20€ in one night, cause we played to high blinds and I really had no clue how to deal with hyper aggro-players and waited for premium hands in a 5handed game ^^ Since I'm very ambitious in games I started playing FL in August (was frightend of NL first, cause you could lose ALL your money on the table ) and read right at the beginning the Sklansky-Book about Small Stakes Holdem. I only deposited 20$ but was running quite good on 0.1/0.2 FL and moved up to 0.25/0.5 FL. I got 2cond in two 3$-rebuy MMT (with about 150 ppl), what gave my BR a huge boost, but I lost quite a bit of it, when I overplayed my BR and played 10$ MMTs with a lot of ppl. Cause I never reached the money in those MMTs I decided to concentrate on cash games and stoped playing tourneys.
Well, I cleared some bonuses, read a lot and made the change to cash NL, cause it was more exciting than FL! I played 25NL for about 2 month and had an ugly downswing, when I wanted to move up to 50NL with a BR of 1300$ and fall back to about 800$. Finally I made it to the higher limit and stayed there for about 2 more month until I was ready to move up to 100NL.
While looking for free coaching vids I found this site and was very happy with the great videos. They helped me to win about twice as much ptBB on 100NL and are the reason, that I was able to move up to 200NL.

At the moment I'm 12tabling 200NL FR on FT with Rakeback and trying to move up to 400NL. I don't know, when I'll move back to 6max, cause the FR games a quite easy to beat and I'm happy with building my BR + my downswings last about 4days max

Default Hi

Just thought I'd say hello, as I'm new to this forum.

I've been playing poker online for about six years, and I built a bankroll playing limit hold'em (initially full ring, later six max). Over the past few months I've been trying to make the transition to NL six max, starting from NL25 and currently playing NL100.

I've found the videos here to be very helpful in this regard, and I'm hoping to improve my game and make some useful contributions myself.

Good luck at the tables

Hallo there,

I'm a currently 22 years old student from a city near Hamburg, Germany.
Playing poker since pretty much one year now, seriously since the beginning of 2008. I first tried out the several softwares with playmoney and some Bonusmoney from a strategy site, decided I like Stars better than Party or Titan and after going broke 3-4 times I finally managed to get good enough to start grinding. I almost reached 50NL by now with a 20/15 BR Strategy, I hope by the end of September I can improve to that new limit for my first time and that no downswings come across.
My biggest leak is definitly emotional...huh...instability if you like to call it that. Rational thinking and keeping control of my actions at the table is pretty hard to handle for me when I tilt, so that definitly slowed down my poker progress which sucks really bad for me. Still can't imagine a way to get better at this.
Once in a while I play 5$-8$ tournaments on Stars. I'm placing in the money 2 out of 5 times, but never managed to make a final tabe yet.

Main Goals for my near future are:
a) Solidly grinding up to NL50, finally making some good money to waste while studying (I don't like cashouts out of a NL25 BR)
b) Buy a new Laptop (old crushed, need a new one ASAP) with an UMTS Card
c) Make my first Vidz for finding leaks for this site, once the new Forums are up

Check out my visitorsite here!

Good luck at the tables everyone,

- Markus

Hi everyone,

My name is Sander, 22 years old and from belgium. i'm a student, and should be a teacher in about 2 years(sport-teacher, don't know how to say it else ).

So my story begins about 1.5 years ago when i stumbled upon online poker due to a friend of mine. We studied the game together, and i have realy learned very much from him.
i'm currently still grinding @25 and 50 NL, doing ok. I'm thinking about moving up to 100NL but i'm a real bankroll nit so i might stick @ 50 till i'm seriously rolled for 100NL.
I play mostly on fulltilt, i have an account on cake but i do prefer the fulltiltsoftware and the fully stacked tables

I learned about this site on a poker forum in belgium where they said we could learn alot by watching the movies that you guys put out => this was true
