Default PC Help: Malware Defender2009?????

I'm getting notifications about MalwareDefender 2009 being detected by Symantic (Norton) Auto-Scan but it's not picking it up with the full Scan and it keeps replicating. Anybody have any info on this?

A lot of times 2x virus scanning programs (or similar programs such as adware, etc) will think that the other is a virus because of how the software runs. I've never heard of Malware Defender so I can't say this is the reason or not, but it's likely.

I searched google for malware defender 2009. Most of the links have to do with how to remove it, and most indicate that it is spyware.

I'd suggest going with popular, mainstream spyware removal, such as spybot search & destroy

I did the same and came up with the same results but I was hesitant to follow the advice because I didn't know what to trust. I think I have been able to isolate it and actually get it removed. Time will tell......

there's a very good and comprehensive scan at Best Online Anti-Virus Scanner & Free Virus Scan - Kaspersky Lab. it picked up things that my other virus scanners/spyware scanners missed (the files had gone undetected since 2004). I would suggest running that overnight on your cpu and if it comes up clean rest a little easier. it's also a very highly rated retail virus scanner (I believe it beats Norton and McAfee).

MalwareBytes is a great free scanner. Better than Spybot.
