I flopped a low straight on a 357 board w/ 2 hearts. I bet a little more than 2/3 pot when checked too, because thats all this fish did was check and call. he raised me two times in a 10 minute period HU. He called and the turn brought a third heart, I overbet pot a bit and he overshoved. I called. Wrong play hear against weak/passive player?

| Good question. I overbet to discourage him from staying in the hand and calling with a flush draw. I guess when he shoves over my overbet, I should assume he's already got it? I just don't see a lot of people shoving with the nuts there when they could slow play or do a smaller raise. What do you think?

You want a flush draw to call here without giving him pot odds. He has no implied odds. |

That makes sense. So should I jam pot there or bet slightly under pot with a straight? Another question, if I put him on a busted flush draw, what do I do IP and OOP ? I would probably check OOP to give villain a chance to bluff. But IP where he's checking to me, betting anywhere near pot isn't going to make me any money if he has a busted flush draw as thought, is there an amount I can bet to get him to raise me as a bluff or if he has a pair or better? |

| The weird thing was, he HAD the nut flush. Which is why to me his shove looked weird. He wasn't a great player by any means so I guess his play doesn't have to make sense as far as value is concerned.

I think if the guys is a calling station then the time to over bet would be on the flop. I have no issue over betting if a calling station will pay but lets do it when we're certain that we're ahead. Calling station fish tend to be passive so a check raise is normally a big hand so fold IMO. |
