Default +EV in Life

Hey Guys, Im new to the forums here, I don't know anyone, but there is something I think anyone who has been where I have been can appreciate.
And that something is this. Don't let poker take over your life!
I've played ridiculously long session fueled by energy drinks, I've neglected time with friends, life goals, and my soul. And trust me, it sux.

Im not doing that any more and i've noticed an improvement to my life EV and while it may seem a bit surprising, I bet my poker EV too. Less time spent saturated in play has help me recognize sub conscious tilt, help me keep perspective, and made my mind/body healther which keeps me on my best in games.

While it may not be of help to anyone else, I've decided for the time being I will be playing an hour per session, and taking at least an hour break between sessions. This may not sound like much but for me its a huge change compared to my 17 hour blitzes!

Remember +EV in life is good for you and your game.

Thats really good Josh.. Welcome to the forums...

I am actually opposite.. When I get home I only have a few hours b4 I have to go to bed, as a drive a great distance for work. I've actually found playing only an hour a night increases my tendencies to "create action". So I've actually stopped playing every night and decided to just play 3 times a week. instead of 7.... But you are right Balance is the key here.

Sorry to be a doubter but... were you a winning player doing those 17 hour blitzes? I really get off my game after just 6-7 hours.

I think it's +EV period to not do such long sessions.

But I get what you're trying to say. You have to have other things you can focus your mind on when the cards aren't running good or you're not playing good. If poker's all you've got, well that just sucks.

But with that said, I still play 3 hours a day if possible because well... I like playing poker, but I take 2-3 days off every week (I only play about 10K hands a month) just cause well I'm lazy like that and sometimes you gotta do something else other than watch cards fall on a monitor.

If I ever make it to where I can play poker for a significant part of my income, I don't see myself playing more than 4-6 hours a day just 3-4 times a week. I mean, I am doing this so I can hope of having a better life than sitting in a chair in front of a computer at work 8 hours a day... ya know?
