Default PC makes me tilt !! Help pls.

HELP!!

My PC is complete broken down: Whenever I start up, I get a black screen with the next message "ERR2ERR3 Insert system recovery disk". I have a HP computer with Windows Vista installed on it.
I looked up the error on the internet and apparently I'm not the only one who has had this problem. Ofcourse the PC came with Windows Vista preinstalled on it so I dont have the original Windows Vista CD or a recovery disk. Some people tell me I have to completely format my HD and lose everything because a recovery disk will most likely not work !!! This is quite unacceptable to me as there's alot of valuable information on my hard drive. I really have no idea what to do now. Pressing F10 (system recovery) during the start up doesnt help either as he doesnt react to it.
If anyone encountered the same problem or knows a possible solution, I'd appreciate it ALOT.

Colossos159,

ps: no PC = no poker

usually those preinstalled pcs have a separate sector reserved for backup/recovery. I don't know how you are able to access these files if you don't get past the start screen though.

Also I think theres some PC companies out there that have a service which uses some special hardware to secure your files even if your HD is malfunctioning, if you need to secure the important files.

Wow this is a beat. Just reading all the support forums about this problem is giving me life tilt.

I suggest finding a computer geek near you and having them use some kind of partition manager to move stuff around, create a new C drive, and install a fresh operating system (preferably not Vista), then copy data from the corrupted partition to the newly created one. Then delete the corrupted partition and resize the new partition to reclaim all your hard drive space. You'll have to re-install all your applications, but your data will be intact.

If whoever you find start stuttering or their eyes glaze over when you read the above paragraph verbatim, they're not a real computer geek.

... There may be a less laborious process if it's just a partition problem however. But whatever geek you find will have to research independently for that. The above is just a clean, general fix that gets all your data back with a fully functioning operating system.

If you're near a university, try posting a help flyer in the computer labs (near the math and computing science departments).

Except for this, you're gonna have almost no chance of getting your data back going through traditional support channels.

go to a friend and make recovery system disk on his PC. It might work.
unless you have some hardware problems too it shouldn't be a problem.
Basically you need to startup your PC from external windows, then copy all data you have on it, and then format it as a whole and reinstall everything.
Also you may send support ticket to windows vista.

and pro's answer:
This error is specific to HP/Compaq computers (from what I've seen) and means your boot and MBR have been screwed up, probably by some dual boot software you've installed.

Don't believe people who say the only way to fix it is to reinstall Windows.. That's just the easy way out and you lose all your information too.

If you want to play around and try to fix it yourself, here's what you need to do to fix it: Find some way to get Partition Table Doctor either on a live boot CD or from a secondary hard drive installation. Once you have that, Scan the partition for errors and select fix boot... Then if you're running Vista get a copy of Vista Recovery Disc (http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/window... burn yourself a copy of the disc, and run it at the boot of your computer. Once the cd is loaded, click on REPAIR WINDOWS, select COMMAND PROMPT, then use this command: bootrec.exe /fixboot

If that doesn't work use: bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
and see if your windows boots.

IF you have windows XP, boot up with the Windows XP cd, select Repair (R), go into the command prompt (selecting which windows installation you want to modify) and then type this command: fixboot c:

See if your computer boots now.... The important thing is to try to repair your boot which has been deleted or corrupted, that is why it gives the error: err2err3

Try different recovery tools like Table Doctor Partition Recovery Software: Partition Repair; Partition Undelete; Recover deleted or lost partition. in conjunction with your recovery cds (windows xp installation CD and Windows Vista Recovery Disc) .. See if you can get a good grasp of what the commands fixboot, fixmbr, and bootrec.exe can do for you by googling the terms.

good luck.. any further questions just ask.

Ok guys thx,
I've real alot of those help forums for this problem but I was only getting more tilted because those people speak another language . Yesterday I decided to drop of my pc where I bought him and they'll check it out. Most likely my HDD crashed and they'll see if they can recover some of my data.

So for everyone who has important information on his/her computer: Make back ups because a HDD crash can happen to anyone (also people not watching porn )! I never did it (making the back ups ) and now I'm screwed.
