6 person table. I'm in the small blind with AK. Keep in mind I've been running poorly with AK, losing the coin flips when I push all in pre flop. Anyways. Player in second position raises to 18 (standard raise) Player behind him raises to 63. Comes around to me with AK and my thought is that I want to see the flop so I just flat call, hopping to hit my A or K obviously. The first raiser calls as well. Flop comes. Q Q 3 rainbow. Action goes...check, check, bet (100 into a 192$ pot) So obviously I should fold but for some reason I decide to try to make a play on this guy. I wanted to make it seem like I had a Queen. Plus I just flat called his 3 bet on the flop so he has to respect my hand some what. The other player folds so now its heads up. turn is a 4. Still rainbow. I check. he bets 160 into a 392. I lose my head and insta push 460. He calls my 300 more.....he has AQ. So I know I could have prevented this if I raised with my AK preflop, hoping that he would fold....whos to say. I would like to know if most of you would 4 bet in the BB with AK. thanks all. hopefully i explained it well enough. |

Flatting preflop is fine imo as you rarely get looked up by worse, but at 600NL people are very likely to level themselves into rebluffing so 4-betting can't be bad. Postflop was atrocious. You should've just check/folded. |

Pre is fine imo to keep his range a little wider... but if you feel not confident in your postflop play (or play like above) just 4bet and get it in... better to run into his top range than to stack off with 0 equity
