At first I tought: why not call? its only 0.75 cent and we can see what he is holding. On the other hand: if the pot was 15$ and he bets even 5$, I'd fold. I think you can fold this hand: you didnt invest any money in it so dont expekt a return on your investment. |

What matters here is more his holdings than yours. If he is such a donk, he could maybe value-bet a low spade ?! What you could have done is simply bet yourself, he's only going to have a spade ~1/2 of the time, so this move is already profitable. |

| But what does betting here achieve? It folds out all hands I am ahead of and only hands that beat me call.

i agree that calling does two things, one makes us money when we are right, and two gives you an adea of how he is playing certain hands. it is too cheap to fold. and at these lower stakes i see people betting in light, even though i was according to pot, with nothing. i always call in these spots and take it down about 70% of the time. i feel that typically when they have a decent flush card they are trying to over bet significantly in hopes to get value and look bluffy, and when they have a low spade they are too affraid to bet because the know they are not strong and would rather take down the pot without a fight.
