Default PokerTrikz has Mesed Up My Mind!

Once again, thank you everyone for contributing to the forum and thanks to trikkur and loltrickedu for the videos. I've watched most of them a couple times over now and just let it run in the background while I'm playing...lol.

All of a sudden, I've got pet peeves in poker:

1. I hate people limping into my BB. I end up playing trash out of position that gets me in trouble with two pair on a wet flop. I used to PRAY for people to limp into my BB so I could "see a free flop and play".

2. I hate short stacks. Annoying little pricks put you in a position where you have to shove on them on the flop no matter what hits because they are ATC. I used to LOVE short stacks because "they can only cost me so much money". Now I just thirst for A9+ to go to the mat with them. I love it when they stack off AQ on a low, dry flop and I'm sitting with AA.

3. I used to fear betting or raising without a monster because "I might get reraised". Now I can evaluate and see if it's worth continuing. If not, I dump and happily raise the next hand that hits my range. If they get too re-raise happy, I'll just tighten my range and 4Bet 'em.

4. I got all in PF with QQ against AA and flopped a Q. I didn't think a whole lot of it.

5. I got all in PF with AA against 66 and got cracked. I wasn't moved.

6. I limped into the SB with J9o and I thought I was going to rip my own head off.

7. I used to camp out on tables no matter what like it was my duty. Now if there are two shorties to my left or a solid player who keeps picking off my light CO raises, I'll just leave and go find a better table.

This PokertTrikz site can really mess your mind up and just completely rearrange your poker game.

Good stuff.

I can relate to the old 'scared to raise' exept I used to auto give up if I got called even with position. Glad that horrible feeling is gone and I now welcome callers.

it is always funny the way that you used to play before you learned what real poker was.

i remember checking down hands like straight flush draws, because i didnt have a made hand of course, and then being pissed when half the deck missed me and the other guy won with a pair of 2's.

or

calling JJ all the way down on a board of AKQ just because it was a good pp and of course i had the straight draw.

i would say that the most important thing that you have to learn when you are starting out is that you SUCK AT POKER

Yeah it's amazing that I was getting crushed in cash games for like 1.5 years but a few big donkament cashes made me break even for my first two years of playing. So basically I had a couple of years where I was AWFUL but didn't lose any money. Started learning the game properly a year back and since then haven't looked back in terms of profit, straight baller. I'm actually really lucky those two years were free experiance.

I have a similar story as you Deviant. I could never figure out cash. I would be up and down and up and down. I never busted out my first $100 I put on Party Poker. I was +$5,000 from "donkaments" when the whole Neteller fiasco hit.

I'm kinda glad I don't have that big of a bankroll to "learn" with. I used to play $200NL on FTP because "that's what I play live". Ha! My buddies laugh at me when I tell them I'm playing .10/.25 NL. They jump on PokerStars or whatever and fire up the 2/4 game because they usually play 2/5 live. And they can't seem to figure out why they have to pull out their credit card to play every time.

Haha, aye.

I was also of the opinion that tournaments, sorry donkaments, were superior to cash games. Now I hate anything other than a cash game (apart from Mondays I play a tournament live because I have my pub league title to defend from last year - sick brag LOL). I even bought some Sit n' Go books! Quite amazing that now I hate them with a passion and always whine about them to my friends.

Just noticed this gem too;

4. I got all in PF with QQ against AA and flopped a Q. I didn't think a whole lot of it.

Ha! Happened to me except I had JJ in my first shot at 50NL way back when. Obviosuly the guy stacked me twice over and I had to get the credit card back out.
