Downslide continues. This time with AA. Villain is same guy who I folded AKo too before. I since found him to call a lot with gutters and TPGK. I was thinking he had AJ. I saw the 9T draw out there, but figured the chances of him having that AND him hitting were slim. I thought he might come over the top on the turn. I was so wrong. I've been getting bazookad by bad river cards lately where I end up 2nd best or the board is sick scary. Most of the time I've been laying down. Not this time. You definitely want to plan your bet sizes before making the flop c-bet. Your goal should be to get all the money in on the turn. I would suggest a just slightly larger flop bet -- $6 should do it: if you get called by one player the pot will be ~$21 with ~$16 behind, which gives you just about a perfect bet size to push the turn.

Ok. I think I got too tricky with myself. My standard bet is somewhere between 3/4 and pot. I've found a lot of people folding when I have nut hands, so I wanted to bring it down a tad to try and make more draw money. I just killed myself here.

Hmmm, too difficult to justice, cause you have top set and want max value from this. But your aim against chasing opponent should be getting all money on the Turn at the latest, when at least you are favourite He has only 8 outs to complete. Shove the river against this opponent. Do slowplay agianst Ax players, not this type But anyways I would say that you hit calling station, cause normal player would fold even with correct odds after 2 streets with OESD |

No, he didn't have odds to call you on turn. 5 to 1 to make a straight. He's getting 3 to 1 on his money on the turn, but you only have $8 behind, so basically he called getting less than 4 to 1 on his money period. You win. I think you get good value from the odd case Ace that wouldn't call a big push on the turn. And maybe you get value from QQ that can't believe he has A POCKET PAIR. But NH sir. I wouldn't sweat it. bet more on the flop. If he folds then he is folding to a lesser bet anyway. If he is a chaser then he most likely calls. I think a larger flop bet also can give the impression you are trying to buy the pot plus people will expect you to c-bet (you did reraise). Then drop the rest of your stack in on the turn. If he calls that then so be it since that is what you want anyway. As it went it was a bummer, but with this player (assuming he stays at the table) I am definitely betting much larger than normal to get more of his stack in the middle since he is so keen to chase bad odds. You will get it back from him eventually I would imagine. |
