Default Small Pot Blues

I've been better at avoiding a lot of marginal hands/spots. However, I feel this may be one of the reasons my big hands aren't getting paid off (I can't remember the last time someone felted when I had a set - oh yeah, last weekend).

I've been running into this kind of crap all day today because I try to slow down and not build big pots without a hand.

Full Tilt Poker, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

CO: $13.70
Hero (BTN): $25
SB: $60.25
BB: $9.70
UTG: $35.55

Pre-Flop: As 9c dealt to Hero (BTN)
2 folds, Hero raises to $0.85, SB calls $0.75, BB folds

Flop: ($1.95) 9d 8h Jc (2 Players)
SB checks, Hero bets $1.25, SB calls $1.25

Turn: ($4.45) Jd (2 Players)
SB checks, Hero checks

River: ($4.45) Ac (2 Players)
SB bets $2, Hero calls $2

Results: $8.45 Pot ($0.40 Rake)
Hero mucked As 9c (two pair, Aces and Jacks) and LOST (-$4.10 NET)
SB showed Th Jh (three of a kind, Jacks) and WON $8.05 (+$3.95 NET)

Mind you, if I've got QQ or even AQ, that c-bet never gets called.

Ppl at 25NL do not rrreally watch your style. So image is not that important (see Trikkurs vid, where he is playing ATC on the button and ppl do not adjust)

Hand 1: Good hand! Your line is fine.

Hand 2: You got your money in good and he had some longshot - so where is the problem?

these seem fine.

As you said small pot blues. Small pot losses don't worry me to much. Better that than large pot blues (you didn't inflate the pots and I would be happy about that). I think its the small pots like this though that help to generate action for you in bigger hands. If people see you taking certain actions in hands like this then that can carry across to hands were you have the nuts and they completely misread you because you take some action that occurred in a small pot hand.

Those seem like standard 10nl players.

Hand 1 though I might not cbet that flop necessarily. Do you have good evidence he folds a lot to cbets? That hits his range big and for the most part turn card could be good for you. Then you could just c/c turn and c/c river.
