Default Is this guy a donk?

My first thought was "this guy's a donk and I got coolered". Thinking from his perspective, maybe he's not so nutz.

Full Tilt Poker, $0.10/$0.25 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 6 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

BB: $18.65
UTG: $44.50
MP: $25
CO: $27.80
Hero (BTN): $54.95
SB: $17.40

Pre-Flop: Js Jh dealt to Hero (BTN)
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.85, CO folds, Hero raises to $2.90, 2 folds, MP calls $2.05

Flop: ($6.15) 8d Th 9d (2 Players)
MP checks, Hero bets $5, MP raises to $22.10 and is All-In, Hero calls $17.10

Turn: ($50.35) Kc (2 Players - 1 is All-In)

River: ($50.35) 2d (2 Players - 1 is All-In)

Results: $50.35 Pot ($2.50 Rake)
MP showed Ad Qd (a flush, Ace high) and WON $47.85 (+$22.85 NET)
Hero showed Js Jh (a pair of Jacks) and LOST (-$25 NET)

I figure he has to put my 3B on TT+, AK, AQ.

vs TT he's got 12 outs - FD + 4 Js - Td
vs AA he's got 13 outs - FD + 4 Js
vs JJ,QQ,KK he's got 12 outs - FD + 3 As (B@$T!@#RD)
vs AK he's got 12 outs - FD + 3 Qs
vs AQ he's got a freeroll.

Plus he's got serious fold equity against JJ, AK, AQ, maybe QQ as people do this move with AA at these limits - call a 3B and push a scary flop.

Getting 2-1 on my call and figuring I was ahead (his timing screamed draw), my call is correct with a 50% chance to win, but I can't call him a total idiot.

Or can I?

his call preflop was a little loose, as he is oop.
As post flop he played fine. He had enough outs to go all in here.

I think MP's likely range for making this move is 88-AA, AKd, AQd. JJ is unlikely, so more like sets, overpairs and nut flush combos. Being open gives you more equity, and you're actually better off than if you had KK here (about 2% difference). Against his range, you have about 35% equity in the pot, and you're getting about 2:1 on the flop, so it's at worst a breakeven call.

Hand 0: 65.187% 64.64% 00.55% 111348 943.50 { QQ+, TT-88, AdKd, AdQd }
Hand 1: 34.813% 34.27% 00.55% 59025 943.50 { JJ }

But the money's already in the middle, so you don't get to have a range. You only have two JJ and you have a range for villain only. So JJ versus his likely range is a breakeven call. No use worrying about what you think he thinks you have when he's already done betting.

It's really hard to play a huge combo draw bad. Calling then folding on the turn would have been nice tho, right?

3bet combo draw and he may also think an Ace gives him a win. He played his hand fine and I would have probably gotten my money in there with his hand as well for 100bb
