Check-calling is weak, yeah, but in this case, betting serves no purpose. You're turning your hand into a bluff on the river. What hands call you after you put out 3 bets and don't stop when the Ace hits? You may have even folded out JJ.
I think a small blocker works best here (1/4, 1/3) because one of your opponents seems to have a pair and doesn't believe you have anything and the other is either drawing or slowplaying. But even the blocker may get no value from a worse hand.
That Ace really is an action killer since that completes the obvious draw on the flop and also anybody who thought you were just full of it with AK now just got outdrawn.
Nothing you want to get called by on the river. You're turning your hand into a bluff and get value from nothing. It's a wierd spot for sure.
I'd bet flop, bet turn, then be very leery once I get 2 calls again. I don't think check-call is right since the A is an obvious scare card if we check. I'd put out a very small blocker and expect to only get called or raised by a better hand. ... Maybe a check-call of a small bet (1/3 pot or less) is ok as well since we're not getting called by anything we beat anyway, maybe we can induce a small desperation bluff. But it's more likely a checked down hand or someone bets strong on that river cause they just got there. You basically said on the river, "I don't know where I am anymore, so here take my stack if you got it. I was bluffing AK all along, haha." Very confusing.
Sometimes, you just have to checkdown the river. It happens.
