I dont think you need to c-bet as much as you did on that board. When he smooth calls after raising 4x pre and then flats a 3bet after you said he hasnt raised any hands. Then he calls the cbet I'd be very concerned. Problem with your c-bet is the size is intended to get it in. You are only getting called by better IMO... but I dont think going broke here is bad either.

He calls a 3bet with 36s WOW!!!! I'd be so pissed. Im sure you would've accepted this beat alot more if it were 10's-AA

Take a note on him and move on... Also because he is deep stacked you may want to 3 bet him even more pre flop... maybe to like $3.5...

I think you played it fine considering how bad this player is. Honestly would'nt be suprised to get looked up my AQ or something, and 66-88. Good seat selection btw.

I didnt put in a not too big 3bet because i just wanted to know where Im at with my 9s.
After he just calls I put him on high cards, he called the 3b very quick.

Well he's bad but he played it well post flop and I really felt like checking the turn but pot was too big and he trapped me good.

You said he was limping every hand, but he didn't limp, he raised. Kind of irrelevant information then.

So you 3bet and he flats. Regardless of the results, you still have no real history on villain so your range for him has to be pair from 22-AA to high cards, maybe a JTs thrown in randomly.

You bet the low flop, he calls.

High cards are no longer in his range if he has any sense. It's pairs now to some draw to a made hand.

Made hands: 33,55, 66+.

Draws: 64. 42.

But look at the draws he might be on. That means he called a 3bet with low suited connectors. Then now 34,35 type hand is a realistic range for him as well.

Now let's see what hands he calls on the turn that we beat.

66,77,88. That's 3 hands.

And we're behind to TT-AA, Any 3x hand, 33, and 55 that he could be slowplaying.

3 hands we beat that will call us. 7-10 hands that we're behind to that he might slowplay in position to us.

I know it's a tough spot to get away from, but just there are other ways to think about this situation.

What happens if we check it to him? Is he gonna bet 66,77,88 putting us on whiffed AK? I'm inclined to say no.

C/F the turn is weak. But considering what could be transpiring here, I think protecting our stack has more importance when it's much more likely we're getting slowplayed than getting value called.

I like C/F turn. And block 1/3 pot then fold. I might just C/F river as well since the stack sizes are odd to block since I don't know if I can fold to a minraise.

I'm not a huge fan of 3 betting oop with 88-99. They are fairly vulnerable hands and they're the type of hands that pay off TT-QQ on low boards like this. And they're really hard to play in 3 bet pots unless you have a really good feel for your opponent.
