Default 10NL questions

Hi

I've been playing poker for about a year but I've been serious about this thing for some months. I feel like I went from a losing player to break-even / small winning player on the micros this time, though, I've got some issues.

First of all, we could say that this is my first time following all this bankrollmanagement thing. I've grinded rolls on 5NL and I played thousands of hands on 10NL. My bigges issue is confidence. Allways when I start to play on a new site I feel good about my game. I'm fully concentrated and playing just fine. I've had some good winningstreaks w/ like 10 buy-ins in some hours, but when things just doesn't go my way I start to play bad and start to do more advanced things that really doesn't work on 10NL.

So what I would like is to get some help by you 10NL grinders (and micro grinders) to get some tips and trix, and your most common problems grinding for hours. I'm currently on a $360 roll but let's say I've donked away maybe $40 this last sessions on stupid calls. My goal is to start grinding $20NL soon, and I guess that's why I'm a bit fraid that I will continue playing bad.

Don't get me all wrong, I've got much experience on this limit and it's not my first time thinking like this, though I think it would be great with all advice I can get to polisch my game on this donk-level.

Thank you!

Default 2h session

So, I went in to town to do some things I had to do, and really, I thought about my leaks in poker. Well, I wouldn't say "poker" more of a 10NLisch weakness, since they are stations and most of them are just morons.

I took a 2h session now when I got back and I thought about doing that stuff that I really kills my winrate on this limit. I played a little bit tighter, thought about my squeezing range and also about c-betting less. I ended the session +$42 which is a great result since I just have had losing sessions. The mose important thing that I notices was by just beeing super-patience, I could take down a whole lot of small pots. I think I took maybe a buy-in of just winning small pots. It's one of the things that has been frustrating me the most, I allways think like "haven't won a buy-in for sooo long, I really need to get things going".. but it's just stupid :P

I can see that no one have replied yet, but I thought that this thread could be for all of us who is still struggling on 10-20NL. We could give advices and all of that.

Sorry for my english btw. I'm from Sweden :/

your english is good, so don't worry about that have you tried watching the videos yet? trikkur recently did a 10nl 6-tabling video on stars that should get you off to a good start.

I am sure you know very well how to play. Now you just have to play that way. Against callingstations, dont bluff. Easy to say, hard to do. Dont play crappy hands against loose players. I know its hard to watch callingstations getting huge stacks just calling down with low pair, but eventually they lost their money very fast. Just wait when you hit your trips and valuebet three streets. Look trikkur videos, this happens to him too, some donk got his money and Trikkur said, that he will get it back. But it happened after 100 hands, not in next orbit. Patience is the key, if the donk leaves, its ok, sombody else will replace him and you get your money back from him instead. Just believe, that this strategy that you have studied is right and believe in yourself.

Yeah, trikkurs video really helped me a lot. It's just some problems I still have, like, if I know someone is weak I just can't fold. I see people call down A high all the time, just because it's so skillfull. There's plenty of donkbets, and often times I pop em' up, and it works some times and sometimes it doesn't, but I still do it to often I think.

I've watched my pokertracker and even that it has gone shitty like hell this past few days I'm acctully up a fair amount. My bankroll is kind of swingy at the moment but I feel like i'm playing well now. I'm up four more buy-ins this morning, so I'm calling the day and I will play some more tonight.

Thanks for all support and I hope this thread could be a place to help more people that are struggling.

I am also playing 10 NL and in a similar situation to you. My biggest problem is actually putting in the hours needed to make progress. I have a bad habit of quitting after I win a couple of buy-ins, but when I lose, I will play for very long periods. For example, if I win a couple buy-ins within 30 min of sitting down, I will quit. But if I lose a couple of buy-ins, I will play for hours trying to get back to even.

My other biggest problem is not giving players enough credit for hands when they bet. The more I play at 10 NL, the more I am noticing that when players raise on the turn/river, they are rarely bluffing. I believe Trikkur says something to this effect in one of his videos as well. Unfortunately I have a tough time laying down hands like TPGK. I am improving on this, but I always feel like players are just taking shots at me. I don't give enough credit when I should.

.

I have heard this hundred times at least, but no real good answers. I have the same problem, I usually put myself some goal, something like 1000 hands or 2 hours, it helps.

If you repair this leak, you winrate goes up very quickly. I had same problem also, I used simple rule; Only bluff you make in NL10, is cbet, and only bluff you expect opponents to do, is cbet.
No bluffs at the turn and river, and no thinking that villain bluffs on river or turn.

I have the same problems too. I think I am c-betting to much when I miss. I just watched Trikkur's Pokerstars 10nl video again last night to try to refresh somethings and it helped. I think sticking to a game plan and not rting to get to fancy at 10nl is realy important. I would love some new 10nl videos.

I like your post and have kindof same problems

Some things that might help
- Fish can get hands
- You will not win all your sessions
- You are probably bored playing the level

If i play tight and stick to the 1 pair is most of the time not enough for an all in etc i simply win at $10 (but not always!)

So just play your boring game until you have the $400 and then move up.
When i moved up to $400 i got a huge upswing to $640 but then:
- Met some better players
- Did not get hands
- etc...

So again
You will not win always

Edit:
oops i ment when i moved up to $20

It's more likely that you're implementing the "advanced plays" the wrong way, at the wrong time, or against the wrong person than it is that advanced plays wont work at 10NL.

If you're talking about getting into a leveling war with somebody that's not even sure if a flush beats a straight you're right, but you can still take very non-standard lines and rake in the monies against complete idiots.

It's all about hand ranges imo. Think about them lots and you'll get a lot better.
