gross spot. I throw up a little in my mouth and call, even though I'm expecting to see a flush here a lot. there's a slight chance at 4nl that someone is spazzing out with 2 pair despite the 4 to a straight on the board, and of course he could also have a J and you'll be chopping.

I think not betting the river is bad, you'll let people with 2pair type hands off without trying to win any money off them. maybe im not giving them enough credit, but I wouldn't be surprised if some 4nl players even didnt notice the 4 to a straight on the board, or if they do notice they'll still call bc I mean they still have 2pair, and 2 pairz is a strong hand. I should stop replying to threads at 4am.

@higher limits I wouldn't bet the river, cause nobody will pay you off... at 4NL I think it's fine from what I've heard about that limit ^^ And cause most ppl spazz out way to much I can't see us folding here... only hand that beats us is a flush and he can not have Axs so the only hands that beat us are small SC...
And there are quite a lot of AJ, KJ, QJ, JT-hands in his range... so I call and expect to split here a huuge amount of the time - maybe he even spazzed out /w 2pair or is trying to push you off something.

Betting the river is fine, but your size was too big. I prefer check/calling the river anyway since this is a good board for the villain to bluff.

As it is this is a pretty easy fold since you're calling hoping for a split at best -- and it's pretty unlikely he's shoving Jx on that river.

How can you fold this with that much money already in the pot?

I guess it's more likely that UTG has a straight than a flush. Matematically that should mean, we bet 2$ in hope of winning 4$ (split pot). That should mean at least a slight EV+. Remember also that it is NL4 where a lot of players are not very skilled. If it happens that UTG has neither a flush nor a straight, we are winning 8$ from his two-pair, set or bluff.

Raising preflop would make it easier to build a large pot fast in cases such as this.

I've never played 4NL, but it doesn't seem right to say that an unknown villain is going to shove over your 3rd barrel with 2 pair on this river. I think villain is going to show up with a lot of flushes and not much else. I think the river is a fold.

I called and he showed KdJd for the freeroll.

I was thinking similar to most that this could be a flush but could be other hands as well. I guess with this being a chop at best a fold is likely smarter with no other reads. Ok, thanks-

It doesn't matter how great the pot odds you're getting are if you're drawing dead.

if it makes you feel any better, villain played horridly by not shoving the turn with a freeroll.
