Default good bankroll

what is the minimun bankroll to have to be properly rolled in a game ? I stick to 30 to 45 buy ins for a limit maybe if i hit 20 to 25 buy ins at higher limit to give it a shot if i lose a buyin drop back down .

it depends

for microstakes you're playing super conservative as usually 20/15 is the rule: 20 buyins per level, move down if you drop to 15.

Above that it all depends on how high you want your risk of ruin to be. I know one semi-pro (pays for law school) who doesn't move up without 75 AFTER living expenses.

Im still at 10nl but im using 25/20. I wouldnt really feel safe with 20/15 and I dont mind the extra time I have to devote to grind an extra 10 buy-ins before moving up.

The general rule as every one knows is 20 buy ins. At the low limits I think this is fine but as you move up in limits I think you need more. 30-40 for 50NL and up seems more realistic to me.

For heads up play I've heard one HU pro talk about 50 buy ins as being the minimum roll but this sounds to small for me.

It also varies from player to player - some players shy away from the marginal +ve spots and others embrace them. Obviously you'll need a bigger bankroll if your more of a gambler.

50 sounds small, are you serious? I would say that in micro/smallstakes HU the variance isn't much worse than in NL 6max, mainly because your winrate is much higher (seen any NL100 regular win 8ptbb/100 in 6max?). In the higher stakes, when winrates drop to something like 2ptbb/100, the variance kicks in of course.

If you ask some HU regulars, most say that 20-30 is enough up to NL200 and somewhere like NL1k (where you have to play regulars too) something like 40-50 buy-ins minimum is often suggested.

I've used this example before, but here's a graph from one finnish HU player, whose biggest downswing was 10 buy-ins over a decent sample size and he played NL100 to NL400:

Edit: Of course those pr1nnyraid -type LAG guys with 40% 3bet in HU will experience much higher variance... but if you are table selecting and playing conservative, the variance isn't really that bad.

If you have enough discipline to actually follow it and don't mind jumping around limits a fair amount, then I think 20/15 is a good guideline.

I think this would be backwards if anything... You're going to need more cushion at higher limits just because the skill element increases greatly.

I use a 20/15 rule to be conservative. I'd consider 25 or 30 BI for 100NL.

i like to have 25 bis and drop in limits if im under 20. Im takin shots with 15 bis for the higher level, which i think isnt that good :X

For NL20 20 bis def. is enough, NL50 maybe 25
