Villain is solid tag reg. 24/21 over 2k hands, 150+ hands this session. Lot's of sparring around between he and I over these 150 hands this session as we fought over the fish. Villains flop cbet% is 88% and fold to flop raise is 72%. Which I figured gave me a couple ways to win this hand, either hitting my hand or by simply stealing it away with a raise of his inevitable cbet. Didn't quite work out that way... Absolute/UB Cereus No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (5 handed) Hero (Button) ($36.99) SB ($30.50) BB ($8.40) UTG ($49.65) MP ($47.98) Preflop: Hero is Button with 4 , 6![]() 1 fold, MP bets $0.75, Hero calls $0.75, SB calls $0.65, 1 fold Flop: ($2.50) 2 , A , 8 (3 players)SB checks, MP checks, Hero bets $1.50, 1 fold, MP calls $1.50 Turn: ($5.50) 7 (2 players)MP checks, Hero bets $2.75, MP raises to $5.50 Results: Hero had 4 , 6 (straight, eight high).MP didn't show When he checked the 3 handed flop, I immediately figured he had a big pair, which I know I can get him to fold either on the flop or on the turn, or he's flopped a set. But I decide to find out by betting. Therefore, when he check raises the turn, I am not at all surprised. But I can't fold to the check min raise while we're still relatively deep and I've got 4 outs and a certain double up if I hit, can I? Also in the back of my mind was the possibility that he perhaps was just trying to steal it himself with a pocket pair and if he checked the river I was most definitely shoving. Hero calls $2.75 River: ($16.50) 5 (2 players)MP bets $6.50, Hero raises to $29.24 (All-In), MP calls $22.74 Total pot: $74.98 | Rake: $3 During play, I liked the way this one played out. But while reviewing it on PT after the session, watching with hole cards exposed, made me think I may have been spewing here and just got lucky. Then again, I think I can justify everything I did in the hand. He had AdKd (I only had 3 outs) and if he'd simply bet the flop, like he always does, I'd have let it go given that flop. He check raised the turn, if he'd just have check raised properly, he could've taken it down right there. But he did neither and I hit the miracle river. Spewy? Or a lesson not to slowplay and not to min raise? |
