Default Attempted steal, SB 3 bets, BB flats

Cake Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (5 handed) - Cake-Poker Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

UTG ($55.70)
MP ($65.10)
Hero (Button) ($96.90)
SB ($83.60)
BB ($50.50)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A:diamond:, 5:diamond:
2 folds, Hero bets $1.25, SB raises to $3.75, BB calls $3.25, Hero calls $2.50

Flop: ($11.25) 2:heart:, 9:heart:, 7:heart: (3 players)
SB bets $10.25, 1 fold, Hero folds

Total pot: $11.25

My flop call of the 3 bet seems okay, right? Even if it was just one of the blinds there, it's not too bad, right, to see the flop?

I am more just asking as a general qustion here vs unknown(s) that have just been sitting at the table relatievely quietyl but in this game FYI there ws not a lot of 3 betting going on. I don't think that player had 3 bet me at all during the session. I was short handed vs SB and another player or two for a while, actually at 2 tables becuase the server crashed and then people sit back in slowly. I was small ball stealing blinds like crazy 2.5x raise steal in position.

edit: we had seen the SB limp A2o in early position in a previous session (could have been quite some time ago)
the BB had pissed me off in a previous hand when I floated them on a Qxx flop & then the turn was a 5 and that paired the villains 56 so calls my bet on the turn there. I beat em up in a bigger pot on a later hand by firing on the flop and the river with top pair, 2nd kicker and got them to call me with 2nd pair, mid kicker.

IMO, this is a pretty bad call preflop. You state there has not been much 3betting and the bb calls the 3bet. That alone causes me to ditch this hand. Had this been just the sb and he had been 3betting frequently, I don't mind a small 4 bet but in this spot, just toss it. What type of hand are you going to feel comfortable with postflop other than flopping a flush or nut draw?

okay, MXRider. Once I started thinking about the player and writing that up, I sorta realized the error there. I think the player, early in the session, was overdefending (by calling) the SB but maybe I am wrong about that; this player may have been seated after that happened, can't remember.

At the time that I was playing the hand, I liked that it was flush material in a 3 way pot & in position.

looking at the hand i would probs fold pre-flop i mean as stated just looking for your flushdraw etc but what you going to do if you hit your ace just says negative money to me let it go saves trouble later on.

I don't think preflop is that bad because you're 160bb deep with SB. It's probably -EV, but not terrible.

ok, Given. The other defense is that it is a small $ 3 bet so that helps the EV, too.

That actually brings up an interesting point. I saw in one of DrGeneFish's videos, that he says he will call with a gutshot if they are deepstacked. I guess that may apply to higher stakes if you don't typically execute such a move and so the villain wont put you on that hand and you may be able to stack him big. I have been thinking about that line & I think really both you and villain have to give eachother a lot of credit for that to work properly.
