Default getting max value with a set vs loose villain

he's 56/42

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.05 BB (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Hero (Button) ($9.71)
SB ($10.10)
BB ($6.84)
UTG ($5)
MP ($10.41)
CO ($12.16)

Preflop: Hero is Button with A, 9
1 fold, MP calls $0.05, 1 fold, Hero bets $0.25, SB calls $0.23, 2 folds

Flop: ($0.60) 4, 9, 9 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.45, SB raises to $0.90, Hero calls $0.45

Turn: ($2.40) 7 (2 players)
SB bets $0.75, Hero raises to $1.95, 1 fold

Total pot: $3.90 | Rake: $0.15

I thought he's never folding a set there, so I'd hammer the turn, was it better to raise the flop? Or call the turn or??

You get more value against flush draws if you raise the flop. As played, turn raise is fine.

Since we are deep and there are quite some cards that could scare him or you on the turn, I really prefer a 3bet on the flop here. He looks loose, so he is likely to call us /w any FD, 9 or even pp or 4.

btw. If you raise the turn... raise more!!! You are giving him prefect odds to call /w a FD. Make it 4.75$ or something

Villain is quite obviously an aggrotard, and has many more bluffs than draws/value in his range. We stack value (9's) all day anyway so it makes 0 difference whether we ship the flop or the turn. We always ship even when the flush card hits, so it makes no difference if we raise on the flop before it hits and then shove or shove and then lose when it hits.

100bb deep, I would advocate calling (or min 3-betting to try to tilt him) and letting him hang himself, but you're so deep here a small 3-bet is your best option imo.

this is just being picky, but thats not a set, it's trips. It's a pretty significant difference, in that 3 of a kind w/ trips is obvious, where as a set is hidden as you have 2 of the 3 in your hand. I like a 3bet on the flop as well a large percentage of the time, but as played on the flop, don't just call that turn unless you think he'll bluff when he misses most of the time or that he doesn't even have a flush draw.

3bet flop... I suggest not to 3bet big here. You only need to make sure to get it in on the turn easily. raise to 2.20.
leaves him with 4.39 and it's a 5.00$ pot.
