Default NL50: midpair facing turn raise from a lagtard

The guy sat after me and played his 2nd orbit, the only thing I knew is according to PTR he is a losing lagtard.

Played ok? Do you agree folding to any reasonable sized bet from him on the river is safe?

Do you think flop bet should be bigger? My logic was if he hit a strong hand or missed he's likely to raise my cbet anyway, and I just want a better spot for my moneys so planning to lay down. But if he has a weak made hand it is better to give him an easy call opportunity.

Some of villain's peels on the turn may beat you and he may have air that will bet, so I prefer a c/c on the turn even if your hand is not that bad. River check is standard, imo.

I like your play actually and wouldn't have done anything differently.

@Nostalgica:

If you check-call the turn, don't you think it makes check-folding many rivers less safe? I mean, by bet-calling the turn, my hand looks stronger so he is less likely to fire the river (and it's what I want). But, if I check-call the turn, I'm asking him to barrel the river, and I guess I can't call that another bet ...

The amount of money going in with c/c the turn and river would be about the same here if u call his reraise on turn. If he has tendency to be aggressive why not just checking and letting him bluff?

So, you mean check-calling the turn and any river is better than bet-calling the turn and check-folding any river? I can't say I don't like it, seems kinda close... Or you mean I'm winning more (and losing less) on the turn by check-calling cause his range is much wider so I'm more likely to be putting money good?

It seems I'm checking turns too often (from comments on my hands), I'm trying to figure out where it is appropriate.

I check call turn rarely to always check fold river, but to check/reeval. I think both lines are valid and have advantages of their own.

You can't be sure villain is aggro and will bet weaker pairs or Fd's, but you can be pretty sure he'lll call with dem.
