Default 3-bet preflop, then flop bottom set on a dry board - extracting value?

Just had a hand today where I feel like I could have done better extracting value, but I know the general argument is that you shouldn't slow-play... any opinions? It's pretty rare to flop a set on such a non-intimidating board... I hate not getting something out of it...

Villain is pretty standard TAGish, both players full-stacked. I had been playing pretty straightforward PokerTrikz-style poker, except very rarely re-raising preflop (working on that...)

50NL 6-max on PokerStars

Seats 1-3 fold.
Villain (on button) raises to $2.
SB folds.
Hero (in BB for $0.50) re-raises to $6 with pocket 3's.
Villain calls.

Flop: 3 9 Q rainbow. Pot = $12.

How should hero proceed, given that I am OOP but the pre-flop aggressor?

I bet $8 and he folded. Was a standard C-bet the best line? Or should I check and give him a chance to bluff or catch something on the turn? Or should I bet less (say, half-pot) to see how he responds?

If I do check and he bets, do I check/raise, or do I just call and bet turn, or do I just call and check/raise turn? Really not sure here...

The way I see it, his button bet/call range preflop would probably include all pocket pairs (probably not JJ-AA or would have 4-bet), most aces (probably not AK or would have 4-bet), KQ, probably KJ and QJ, rarely KT/QT/JT/some lower suited connectors.

After the flop I could only expect action from TT, AQ/KQ/QJ/QT, JT, A9, the aforementioned unlikely hands (AA/KK/QQ/JJ and maybe AK) and 99 (which crushes me). Maybe I'd get a call from some lower pocket pairs as well. I guess that's a fairly wide range... maybe a C-bet is best after all?

Appreciate any advice. Thanks to all!

First of all i love this line it made me laugh. As for the hand, i love your 3bet out of the blinds and i think you played the hand perfect. Right size 3bet and cbet, you cant extract value from a hand that has nothing thats just the nature of the beast sometimes.

I would make the 3bet a little larger, cause I'm oop. I 3bet about 3times his raise in position and about 3.5-4times his raise oop. So I would make it about 7$ here preflop.
Postflop line is fine. If you start slowplaying your monsters here, and sb notices that, he can start raising your Cbet quite light... So just make your standart Cbet here.
I think, the handrange, that you but him on, is a little loose. Can't see a tight player calling your 3bet /w KJ or QJ! A tight player will about never show KT or QT here. Cause your 3bet preflop offered him good odds, he will show pp and sc quite often and maybe strong A.
