Villain is 25/23/4.2 over 230 hands. Folding to the 3bet is my standard, but villain had 3bet me a couple times in the past few orbits. I took the line I did because his bet-sizing made his line look bluffy to me (although I have no experience with him in 3bet pots), so I thought that I would be ahead sometimes and I figured that I have 14 outs when I'm behind. Terrible spew? Hi given1982, I'd fold this preflop after his 3-bet but if he did it already a few times I'd be also tempted to call. You flop TPTK and he bets 10$ in a 13$ pot and you call. Seems fine to me although your hand doesnt have much improving odds. Is raising a possibility? The turn gives you nut flush draw and he moves all in for a massive over bet which totally doesnt make sense to me. If he has you beat (JJ fe) and thinks you are holding a flush draw , shouldnt he be betting smaller (just below pot) to extract more money. I'd believe he is bluffing and would call and if he has you beat you'd still have enough outs. ps: I think the flop call is right and raising is wrong because it would make you pot committed. right? I think raising the flop is terrible--my decision was between calling and folding. Raising the flop gets me shoved on by all the hands that are crushing me and hands that I'm flipping with like big diamonds and only folds out hands that I beat.

I think, I 4bet him preflop. Flop is fine. Turn is ugly, but I'm very tempted to call here, cause if he is 3betting you light, he might have some kind of combo-draw. Last edited by TheDeKay; 08-11-2008 at 02:02 PM. |

Very odd line for a guy with those stats.... Normally I'd expect this to be a weak/tighty "protecting" his overpair, but this guy's slightly LAG stats suggest that he wouldn't be that stupid. I actually think he's got something like KQ/KJ/AJ with a flush draw a decent amount so I wouldn't call this a horrible spew. Still, I think that I'd just let it go since my first impression is that it's a poorly played overpair. Calling pre-flop is fine. You could 4-bet and I'd be fine with that as well, but I prefer calling since we're in position and ATs is definitely ahead of the range I'd put him on for 3-betting a steal raise. |

Im calling this turn bet. If 50NL has taught me one thing its that a vast majority of the time if people are shoving, they want you to fold. If they are betting large, they want you to fold. If they are making medium/small sized value bets they are trying to keep you in the hand because they think they have you beat / have the nuts. |

I'd find a better spot to make a play back, but I think the call is fine if hes really been over defending towards you. Being so loose on the button is mostly noticed by your SB and BB when you deal. You see those people who are "defending their blind" every time. You do have to take your table image into consideration here. If you've been stealing alot (which you should be) on the button then they think youre bullying them. I like flatting the flop because it allows him to continue bluffing at you on the turn but you puke when a J,Q, or K peel and he bets pot. I would call his all in on the turn. I don't know what hand just overshoves more than 2x pot in a 3bet pot on that board.
