Default 2nl Aj Utg

What is your take on this,

villian was running at 21/21/? and I was pretty much the same 21/17
I dont normally raise AJo UTG. I have been pitching it lately to avoid trouble.

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter

UTG: $3.27

CO: $5.07

BTN: $0.82

SB: $2.28

Hero (BB): $2.57

Pre-Flop: J A dealt to Hero (BB)
Hero raises to $0.08, UTG folds, CO raises to $0.24

HERO?

I think it's fine to raise AJo UTG, especially when it's 5-handed. Wait to see what the other 2 players in the hand do before making your decision, but assuming that they folded, you should snap fold--you don't want to be playing AJo in a 3bet pot OOP, and you definitely don't want to be 4betting without a lot more history than you've indicated here.

yeah the stats were only over 50 or so hands and I hadn't seen him get out of line at all. I said I was UTG as well and just realized I was in the BB, not a huge difference I guess. Thanks for the reply given.

cheers

Either the converter messed up worse than I thought, or you play on a really weird poker site if the big blind is the first person to act preflop.

yeah the converter messed up. I was thinking about this on the way to work and thought "What the, how did I raise first from the BB

the 3-bet from the villain was definitely on the button and my initial raise from UTG. I chopped the result so I may have shifted things around a bit with the line breaks etc so the positions have been offset by one.

I had either trikkur or loltrickedu's voice running through my head from one of the vids (the beat micro limit ones) going "just fold in this spot since its a dominated hand" SPOOKY! I did end up folding it, as it was the first time the villain had 3-bet me and I did not want to get caught with a dominated hand (an old leak I hope I have cured for the most part). It has taken a while but I am getting over this thing of thinking if I fold in this spot they will peg me as weak tight (see Folding for an awesome article I think on the art of the fold very cool)

Thanks for all your replies guys/gals

Cheers

Considering villain is 21/21/x AJ is really not a good hand to play in a 3bet pot, its really a 2 gapper + it is offsuit, u have to neither hit a A or a J to continue on playing. But yr position isnt that great to play since if u missed and if u donk lead its hard to tell what he have. only if u hit A would be good some of the time, if the flop is 2 tone, any Q and K, or connected flop it would be hard for u to play. So i wouldnt suggest u raising that hand. Besides that, his not really raising on the button exactly so i wouldnt put him on stealing that often, tho cutoff is also a good spot to steal. I would really put a not on him saying 3betting light and 4bet him next time with a better hand, in and out of position. of course hae stronger hand OOP.
