Ive played online for a year part time and wouldnt say Im any good yet. Also, I have played about 3 years at a 3 table sng Friday home game thats live . I like 3/4/5 table sng's too and for me, UTG is a bitch to play. I have been burn so many times from that spot, I've gone to play top 5 - 10% hands. Anything less it seems, if I get called or raised, I'm beat. What is your basic UTG play? (I be the first to admit - I can donk it good at times! Last edited by ohioriver; 12-30-2009 at 08:04 PM. |

| Generally the tables start 9 handed and drop to 5 or 6 before getting moved to combine tables. - I know at 6 your "supposed" to loosen requirements, but it doesnt matter for me - UTG has been nasty for me. With a bunch of hands ahead of me, mostly I am trying to get a cheap flop down. Once in awhile I'll even limp...

But in all seriousness, playing too tight UTG is never a leak. Against donks its probably fine to just set mine and play a very tight range for value. It is going to be hard to open too wide from UTG since they are probably donks and you will get like 22 callers (at a 9 man table). Even folding hands like AJ isn't that big of a leak.
