Hi lads, It's rather quiet here, so I thought I'd post a couple of hands every once in a while. I like playing rush PLO much more than I like playing NLHE for two reasons which seem to contradict each other, but which actually amplify one another. 1) Typical PLO opposition is much more straightforward than NLHE opposition. This makes the game more "mechanical", for want of a better word, than NLHE. The combination of rush poker and PLO makes for an even more mechanical play on the part of my opponents. 2) When my opponents play mechanically, there is not so much need to try to outwit them. Consequently, I can play slightly more mechanically, which suits me well, being a rather new player. However, I do have some basic tools in my toolbox which can be enormously effective against mechanical players whose bet sizes basically reveal the strength of their hand. A basic IP float followed by a turn bet works wonders. Anyway, here's a hand. I flatted in position because a 3bet would define my hand rather strictly (even though I would probably 3bet other hands, but in that case I would have the benefit of having a hand which is different to the one that I actually have, allowing me to pick up some pots without a fight while potentially making a big score should the flop actually help my hand). Moreover, it wouldn't put a large enough percentage of the effective stacks in the middle. The flop is dry and I have an overpair as well as middle pair. My opponent bets slightly less than the pot OOP as the PFR. Being in position, I can comfortably call a c-bet in this spot with the intention of taking the pot on the turn should he wave the white flag. On the turn, I spike my ace, giving me the nuts. My opponent proceeds to bet something around 3/4 of the pot, which seems weak (evidently, we know he doesn't have a set). Now, usually, I'd raise up such a weak line, fully expecting my opponent to fold. However, now I've actually got a hand and I don't know whether I'd want my opponent to fold. What's our line here (raise? how much?)?
