Default 10NL blind battle, 400bb pot

Villain is very bluffy aggro. He has raised my blind every single time, always c-bets pot. I've folded to him many times, and I just can't give him any credit at this point. His perfectly 3x flop 3-bet, to me, says 'go away', not 'let's dance'. So I call. He could have a monster of course but I think it's more likely he has a draw or even just overs. When he bets big on the turn, I tank and almost fold but then decide I just don't believe him and stick him in. He insta-calls. He did have a good draw. I was 47% on the flop and 55% on the turn. There's not alot of 10nl players who press you so hard, but I don't like how he played his draw. Of course there was some interesting chat after the hand.

I don't like how you played the hand. I think you do pretty terribly against his range given the action. Its a nice pot, but at 10nl with that much action and being that deep, its almost always a big draw or overpair/set/2pair. You will be flipping some % of the time, and dominated the rest.

A pair of 10s with the 3rd kicker will very rarely be good in a 400bb pot, even if it is bvb.

It was a completely read-based play guys, I can play 9To the same way against some villains here.

mike you don't sound too confident about your decision though. His holding doesn't do your play any justice either. Was he really a monkey? Cause your play was completely terrible if he wasn't.

Because of the history and because of his bet-sizing, I felt his range was almost entirely draws. Bottom line, I took a stand against a bully with top pair.

I would have been happy to check this hand down after the flop, and I thought that's what would happen. But his turn bet just sweetens the pot and doesn't change my opinion of what he's doing. Of course, if he shoves at any point, I have to fold. BTW, against any microstakes reg, I am absolutely folding any one-pair hand to a flop 3-bet. But this guy is not a micro reg. He's another small stakes player who did not have success, has moved down to the micros, and thinks he can run over the tables by repping the nuts every time. I thought he was trying to run me over, so, like I said, I took a stand. Yes, he had alot of equity, but I had the best hand on every street, and even though it was a weak hand, my read was right and my hand was good. That said, I do appreciate you guys' opinion and will take it into account.

I'm happy with my play. I'm definitely not looking to play these kinds of marginal big-pot hands, but I felt it was forced on me and I just made the best decision I could on each street.

He wasn't a monkey but he was way over-aggressive and, for some reason, was treating the SB like it was the button.

I don't doubt I played it badly. But I am happy I went with my gut. I just thought it was an interesting hand, leastways I'm still thinking about it.

Thanks for you guys' comments.

Thinking that you "have to take a stand against a bully" is not the right way to analyse things. That it was forced on you is not the right way to analyse things.

For us, there is just one question.

Is this profitable?

Ya reg wars can be insanely profitable in the right spots. It looks like villain had your range pegged perfectly and you ran up against the bottom of his. Lucky imo.
