Default My Poker Journey To Build A Bankroll

Alright so I just started playing about couple weeks ago and started very very poorly. I was making the right choices (most of the times), but would get bad beat every single time (literally). I started off with a 100 Deposit and played at the 10 NL 6 max tables. While tilting and getting bad beat, i managed to lose my entire 100 deposit. Losing my last 35 dollars at 10NL in one hand was the point where i just said F this game. I had AK and the flop came AKK, got my money in and the guy called with QQ. I though i was good, but he hit running queens for quads.... and i lost all my money. After this, i figured i was too "unlucky" to play poker.

After this, I went on vacation to Vegas and basically took time off poker (ironic?).

When I came back home, I told myself i wasn't going to waste any more money on poker. When i logged into my cake account for the last time, i noticed that i had generated about 7 dollars in rakeback. I decided to just play these couple dollars at .2/.4 NL 6 max. After winning the grand sum of 1.41, I slowly realized that my bankroll was way too small and that I only lost money due to some sick variance.

Now I am trying to build a bankroll from that 7 dollars i got from Rakeback, and hopefully move up in the stakes. I am going to post my bankroll every couple days and any significant hands in order to document my "journey". I've been playing pretty tight the past couple days in .2/.4 and managed to go up a couple BIs. Yeah i understand this isn't that much money, but everyones gotta start somewhere right?

This log is mainly for me, so i can document my success/failure. If anyone else is interested in seeing how my journey is going, don't be shy to post in this thread .

Thanks for reading, and hopefully I run good from now on

Session started with : $7.11
Session ended with: $22.55

Good luck building that bankroll .

About variance : I've been through swings as big as 14~+ buyins a few times myself and managed to bounce right back on track every time. When you're losing I would suggest trying to notice if you're tilting even a little bit and either get a hold of yourself or just call it a session. When I'm tilting you can expect to see me make some crazy bluffs, light 4bets and hero calls at very very wrong times which end up costing extra buyins

Started: $22.55
Ended: $12.53

Lost almost 3 BI's at 4 NL today. I have been running terribly today. Got it in preflop with AKs against A4o, and flop comes A44. Exactly the next hand,i refill and i get KK and get in preflop against same loose guy, and he shows 84o. Flop comes 567. Of course after this, he leaves.

For the past couple weeks my bank roll has been going up and down like crazy. My graphs would be something like this /\/\__/ .Anyway, i decided to stop playing cash games, and got for a MTT. I played pretty well and actually got in the money. Not exactly sure how much I won, but my entire bankroll went to about 52$. At this point i decided to cash out and move to Poker Stars. Players at Cake have been annoying me too much. I still have about 90$ to clear, but i decided ill come clear that later if i ever get a bank roll large enough.

So i started at poker stars with a deposit of 25$. I decided to shortstack 3 tables at the .1/.2 Fast 6 max tables. And now i am currently sitting at 35.79$.

I think I do a lot better at Stars mainly because stars is HUD compatible

I just played another quick session at stars and i think i am running pretty good.

Started with: 35.79$
Ended with: 39.16$
Session Length: 28 minutes.

I'm looking at hold em manager and my stats look very weird. VPIP= 35.9 .
bb/100 : 95.7 . over 820 hands. My numbers might be slightly skewed because i played a heads up for a while.

The players at stars .1/.2 are so bad it is funny. Yeah i know, its only a couple cents, but people are calling my pot size bet with 8 high's on the river with busted straight draws. Hopefully i can play more before i start college and move up in stakes.

Well good luck at the tables everyone.

whats your SN on stars?

I will avoid you I don't want to take your new roll and I don't want you taking mine. Hmm maybe we have already tangled

best of luck there. You are right about the stars players at the uber-so-small-no-one-can-see-us limits though. I assume you mean 0.01/0.02 or were you playing a 20cent blind with your $25 roll?

Cheers

You are right. I have been playing the one cent, two cent blinds.

My stars name is jk5454

I am wondering what a good time to move up to .02/.04 would be. Or maybe i should just add a table and go 4 fast tables.

do they actually have .02/.04 tables? I swore i had a look and couldn't see any. Only .03/.05 or something/.05 tables. Maybe I need to look again.

How many tables do you usually play SoF?

I'm only doing 2 at the moment and just trying to fix old leaks (seems to be working) and will increase the number as time goes on (4 tables max for me - makes me freak )
