Default 4 tabling 25nl on Tilt

Trying to step back and improve my game a bit before trying to move up and become a solid player first and stop fooling myself into being more than what I am. Seeing TheDekay's chart really made me realize how much I am missing out on so for my own benefit I'm stepping back a bit with a super huge bankroll and going to not move up until I honestly can say I am handily beating the limit. Here's my first step towards doing exactly that in this new way of playing. I have found myself to become kind of weak tight with a 17/15/2 style of play with 5% 3bet. Pretty typical overall, but I was playing level one poker. I was a winning player, but marginally and need to get beyond that. I'm trying to up the agression in position and use that agression AND position to boost my game. I played ~4 hrs last night 4 tabling 25nl and finished with a 21/20/7 and 13% 3bet. My all in stats were not that great as I got sucked out on a couple of pots and got myself in w/ weaker than normal holdings a couple times as well. The wonderful part was that I won almost 2 full buyins w/o showdown. When watching, please keep this in mind as I'm trying something different for me and obviously will make some blunders.

Terrific video MX! I think this is my 2nd post in the forums. I have been lurking and trying to learn from everyone for a few months. Thanks to all! I hope one day to get into the black and be in a position to help others. Fantastic site Trikkur and friends!

I dont even want to post my stats. I play 10NL for the most part now at FT, Cake (thanks Trikkur to both for RB) and stars from time to time. I lose a little each month on all sites and count on the rakeback to keep going. I typically 4 table and play about 3-4 hours per day and more on weekend and have played regularly about a year. I am slowly getting better as I absorb all of the valuable info on this site and forums. I have a very methodical personality which means poker can be very tricky for me if I dont consciously force myself to take the necessary calculated risks. read: get a little more aggressive!

Your video, MX is going to help a lot in a few areas for me, especially aggressiveness. I would be considered nitty and I just get killed regularly on my 10Nl level by suck outs. I'll grind fine for a few hours and then get killed on a bad All-in call for example. I took some advice on the HUD stats you follow and adjusted my Pokertracker 3 HUD to match.. makes more sense now, thanks!

Keep the vidoes up MX, it appears that Trikkur is getting pretty busy on other stuff! loltrickedu vids are good too, but they are videos I'll review in depth when I get up to those lofty heights! I am trying very hard to grind a bankroll to get to your "step down" 25NL.

PS - I notice around 18:00 an observer recognizes you on table 4 as being from trikz! Carefull, you're becoming a celebrity! I'll fold everything when I see you at Tilt - lol.

That three barrel bluff against the fish was terrible!

Apart from that, enjoyed it plenty. I wish I ran as good as you in 50/50's for 100BB's

Thanks for the kind words Jazz. I truly do appreciate them. I just pulled the video up to see who you were talking about. Have no idea who it was.

Hi mxrider,

I am very curious to your video and will download it immediatly when I get home from work (or the bar). I just wanted to mention something about the aggression you are speaking about:

imo its all comes down to your opponents and not your overall stats. If the big blind is 58/30 i'm rarely raising my button with a moderate hand if he is 13/10 I'll raise with all kinds of crap. I have no idea how many people are using a HUD at 25nl (someone else?) but it seems that there are always people around who are playing a 58/30 style and will call your UTG raise with nothing , even when you havent played a hand in 5 orbits. Image imo is overrated at these limits as you can find enough people who dont care.

Hi mx,

I know these are not your regular stakes but since you were taking notes I was really surprised that you did not place a note on barry111777 (bottom right table). After he called with the busted flush draw (having hit his 9 on the flop) and based on his previous play I am always attaching a CS note to these type of players (aka calling station).

If I see this note and I make a bet and get called I am done with the hand unless I have something. It has saved me a reasonable amount of chips over time.

and i was cheering for ya at the 30 minute mark when you had AKs (bottom right table again). Nice win on the race for once. Man you do well to stay cool after getting sucked out on so many times.

yet another comment, (again concerning the bottom right table) with you and barry111777 (32 min mark). you raised preflop with Ac8c and get called by barry. You then comment that this is an uncoordinated board and the like and then c-bet and barry folds.

Nice result but I think the logic of betting here has to be different than that applied. Barry has already shown that he is willing to play a huge portion of his hands (88% at this point), so the board could very well have hit him as he is pretty much playing ATC and an uncoordinated board must surely mean nothing here. I am just curious as to what you would have done had he called you c-bet?

Would you have given up after that (barring no A emerging or another club appearing)?

I guess the reason I ask is that I myself at this point would be less willing to c-bet OOP with a player like ATC barry IP.
