Trik30 First off, I want to really thank Trikkur for making this video. All the advice has been extremely helpful to me, and I hope that other players got something out of it as well. Here are my comments on some specific spots that came up in the video: On the first hand with JhJs on the Tc5c6h flop, a flop CRAI is actually a really interesting line. I almost never c/r the flop with the betting lead, but there are definitely some spots for it in 3bet pots, and I should add that to my arsenal. My only fear in this hand would be not knowing what to do if villain checked behind and a club, Q, K, or A hit the turn, but I think villain bets the flop a lot. Around 9:40 in on table 2 with the 6h7h on the 2s5d4dJc board, I checked the turn behind because I figured that I didn’t have good equity against any hand (I was having trouble putting him on a hand range because I’m not used to the preflop raiser taking a c/c line on a flop like that) and that I could get a free card to my OESD. But I definitely see what you’re saying about it being a good double barrel card. 19:30 in on table 4, I don’t raise 63s on the button every time. This probably was a bit of boredom creeping in. I’m much better about that than I used to be, but it still happens from time to time. 39:30 in, where I have QdQh on the Jc6d8c4d board in a 3bet pot, I bet the turn again hoping that villain would get sticky with clubs, 9T, AJ, KJ, or QJ. Once he raises, I’m beat most of the time, but I’m getting 6:1, so I only need to be good here 14% of the time to stick the rest of the money in. I will definitely take all your advice to heart: I will stop cbetting so large in 3bet pots. I had already been cbetting smaller when I whiffed, but as you said, there is no reason to bet so big when I hit, even if balancing is not a huge concern at this level. I will raise more in the BB when it is folded around to the SB, who limps. I had already been raising a fairly wide range in this spot, but I will make it close to ATC until people give me a reason not to. I will also take more stabs when I am checked to or shown weakness in general, especially in limped pots. In the past, I was always looking for reasons not to bet in those limped pots--the board is drawy, villain doesn't have a full stack, there are 2 villains, etc. But most importantly, I always thought that it was hard to credibly represent a hand in a limped pot. But as you pointed out, that doesn't really matter if your opponents are just on level 1. I will now make betting the rule rather than the exception in these spots. Just for reference, these are all the hands I've played since mid-March, which is when I moved my roll from Full Tilt and Stars to Red Star and Absolute. >> >> If I could double my winrate, I would be ecstatic. We'll see what happens. Thanks again for making this video. |
