Default opening up your game

Trikkur,

I believe I read in a post that when you are working with new players, that you have them start with a fairly straight forward TAG game of ~16/12. At what point do you start working with them in opening up their game?

Once I can see they are beating 100NL, then we can discuss opening up to a 20/18 type style. After they are beating 200NL, then we can discuss 24/20 type of style. Then after that, well they probably want to stay there or even tighten back up for 400NL depending on their style.

Just a thing, can u explain why you tight ur game when u play NL25/50 and then NL100 u start to opening it ? Cus player at low limit are dumb or stuff like that ? Well I'm right know a player of NL25 6max and the fact is i'm a 22/20 player a i got some difficulties, i mean the swingfact is a very present in my game, i can run +5buyin pretty easily and then down -3buyin very quick ^^ but i dunt think i'm playing bad..

Do u think to beat very hard the NL25 i'll have tight my game like 16/13 14/12 ?

To be completely honest with you, I don't think there are many 25NL players that can profitably play most of the hands that are required to get there stats up there. Most people over evaluate their skill level. Playing SCs, Suited Aces, etc are all very hard and are probably losing 25 and 50NL players money.

so would you say the best stats to aim for would be around 16/14 for the micro limits, i currently play about 19/18. is this to loose for NL25, i find myself hitting really bad swings as well.

what would our positions stats look like if we where winner at these limits?

I think 16/14 - 18/16 are great stats to fall into for the micro stakes.

Maybe I'll look to do a Poker Stove video and talk about opening hand ranges to give you an idea of positional stats.

dont aim for stats, aim for situations and good postflop game
example: if u have autofolding blidns why would u not want to pick those up everytime just to keep ur stats down ? just cbet and give them credit when they enter the pot (i know i dont ...) if it moves ur stats up to 40/30 and they strt plying at u u go back and raise good hands and stack them of as they dont adjust... just sying play situations and hands ur comfortable postflop. if ur not good postflop just play good hands for late positions dont cold call lot and try to get to some spots to imporve ur game.

Obviously each table is going to be independent of each other and adjustments would need to be made, but for an overall strategy I think it's a good idea to have some guidelines. Especially so at the micro levels.

Any chance of having this come about?
