Default What Limits

I myself have been playing poker for about 3 1/2 years now, and have played all sorts of different limits. I recently found that at the .5/1 nl HE I do very well. Turning a $100 deposit into $5,000 in a months time. I have to say I didnt use very good bankroll management when I moved to .5/1 limits, but I did very well. Ive now tried the 1/2 nl HE and I found Im just not as productive at this level, making about 1 buyin in a days work

So now here comes my dilemma. What level should I continue to play on?

In my .5/1 nl I have notes on about all the regular players and have been pretty sure of my plays. Not afraid to fire back in situations when I might not even have 10 high. Plus I have $5,000 to prove I can handle it at this level.

$1/2 nl - I dont have as many notes, bigger pots, and just little more weary not sure of my plays. Ive played around 300 hands a day in a weeks time I made $500 not bad, but was more risky imo.

This is the most Ive ever had online before, so Im looking for some good advise.

Thank you,
Ryan

P.S. - Good luck on the tables

id continue to play 200nl unless you drop below 4k(20Bi). You will develop better reads on opponents and slowly more notes one 1-2 regs. If it doesnt go well you can always go to back to 100nl something you have proven you can beat.

A lot of people are afraid of moving up and down. It's a pretty natural part of poker. I would start playing a few sessions at 200NL and see how it goes for a while. Drop down if you downswing and go back to 100NL where you know you can win. Another cool benefit is the 100NL games will seem super easy after playing 200NL for a while and you'll probably be beating them for more than you are now. Good Luck

Yes, I have the same problem. I have build up a bankroll playing 10NL and 25NL and have over 1000$ now but I still dont move up to 50NL just because I am afraid to lose too much. I should give it a try but I know that I will never call an all in unless I have the nuts so anyone could bluff me of my hand. If someone would give me 100$ , I'd give it a try though .

Colo,

I think that you should move up you got a good enough br to play the $50nl. Just do what Im doing. Ive been playing the $200 nl and have now adapted to it in about 5 days, not fully but getting use to it. Its more of a grind for me though in the 5day span Ive been playing $200nl, Ive only made a buyin and a half so like $300. I know thats not bad, but I would like more. Im sure the more I get use to it Ill gain more profit. Im now looking at buying PokerTracker or something, help me see how Im going and how im playing.

Only big difference is when I 3-bet, 3bets are so large here at this level. But Im keeping my same playing habits ( for thats what got me here ).

Hey Goldenstud,

thx for the advice. I will give the 50NL a shot this evening (one table though) and see how i have to adapt to betting sizes.
You are playing 200NL without PT? If you want to try it , you could download Holdem Manager (same principle as PT) for free trial but you can use it for an unlimited time. The limitation is that you can only store 5000 hands in one databank but you can make a new databank each time. If you are satisfied with it you can buy the full version. I even think it is cheaper and easier to use than PT. I believe Trikkur or loltricked also uses Holdem Manager instead of PT.

Cheers,
Colossos

ps: I'll tell everyone later how I did on the 50NL tables...
ps: I believe the use of PT or Holdemmanager is highly overrated in respect to keep an eye on your opponents , nevertheless it is always good for following your stats and leaks
