Default Where to play?

I turn 18 next week and since that is the legal age to gamble where i live, i am going to start playing poker online. I think I am a pretty good player. I have won many home games and some cash at the casino with a fake ID. I've been lurking lots of poker forums lately, and i want to know where i should start playing. I plan on playing a lot until i start college in late september. With a starting bank roll of about 150-200, where should i play and what limits? I plan on four tabling and i might play more depending on what limits i play and how i'm feeling.

If anyone can advise which poker site has the most fish and best promo deals, i'd really appreciate it. If you want to know more about me or my poker history, just post here or pm me.

Thanks

Well, I really like Full Tilt with a rakeback deal, but for micro-stackes the rake is a little higher than on other sites, I think, and the competition is normal to good. (If you ever want to start playing on FT DO NOT forget to sign up with rakeback!!)
I played on ongame network (eg Pokerroom) and I think, that the players are veeery fishy there, but the software is kinda crappy, so you have to 2table first to get used to it... and the promos are not sooo good.
I never played on PartyPoker, so I can't say too much about the players, but the promos look quite nice for micros, I think. You even could get 5 pokerbooks quite easily, if you sign up over the 2plus2 Bonus programm.
When I started playing I played me through the bonus programm of twoplustwo and pokersourceonline and than signed up on FT (where I will stay, I think, cause I can multitable Full Ring games, what is very profitable).

With a BR of 200$ you should start with 0.05/0.1 Blinds, so you have about 20 Buyins, what is the about the "must have" for every limit, to avoid going broke.
And one tip: Try to start with a more conserative strategy and upen your game up little by little. Don't ever start playing bad hands from UTG and try to play aggressive

Thanks for the replies so far.

I know poker tracker is a nice program to have, but it seems like I won't be able to pay for it. Most likely, I will use it for the 30 day trial period, and if i see good results with it, i might consider purchasing it. Are there any programs that are good to have? The only other program i use right now is pokerstove.

From talking to people, i have been advised to sign up for poker stars and get the 50$ sign up bonus. Right now i like the 33% rakeback and weak players from cake poker that 2loose2fold mentioned. Any more insight on this would be great.

The crappy part about Cake & redstar that keeps me from loading up is their cashout option. I only play on FTP because i enjoy being able to send checks. stars has checks as well, but wont accept my credit card for some reason

I'd probably start off at nl4 or nl5 if your just starting out with that br. Not until you get the hang of things and the feel for online poker should you really go by the 20 to 25 buyin rule. Better to be safe while learning instead of jumping right in without any real online money experience. GL

My first day of online poker did not go very well. I was up 3 buy-ins after 2 hours or so. And then "it" happened.

I got kings, and ran into aces all-in.

Got queens, ran into aces... again.

and then my aces get cracked by sevens.

I'm not tring to get sympathy, but i just want to know is if this is the norm with online poker. I feel like whenever i make a hand, my opponent has a better one. Now.... i am down 1.5 buy ins. =[ on .5 / .10

Lol, it's not the norm, but it happens of course. Sometimes you have the AA, whan sb has KK and vice versa, but in the longrun you will win, if you play better than your opponents. And that's not only the case with online poker, but with live poker as well - the difference is, that you can play much more hands online than live, so you can win/lose more money faster.

I would advise you to stay well away from pokerstars and full tilt if your just starting out on the net. Go with Cakepoker get the 33% rakeback and the deposit bonus. Watch triks videos at the micro stakes and go from there. Dont make the mistake of thinkin your to good for the lower limits just because your good live play. On the internet its totaly different. Stars and Tilt have to manny decent players at all levels for a beginner to sit at a table with.

when you deposit on cake with the rakeback, do you first have to clear the first deposit bonus? Or is it combined immediately with the rakeback.

thx in advanced.

This is my first post btw. Hi you guys . Very interesting site.
