Default FTP and rakeback

OK so I had a read up on the deductions and what not from FT and i have a question,

because fulltilt uses the dealt method to calculate your MGR, and correct me if I am wrong, but if I get dealt a hand and fold preflop then I contribute to my MGR

aka Dealt Rakeback "The three different methods of calculating how much rake each player contributes are dealt, contributed, and weighted contributed method. At poker rooms that use the dealt method, every player that is “dealt” into a hand is credited with contributing rake to the pot. Even if you fold, without actually contributing any money to the pot you are still credited with rake contributed and your MGR increases. To calculate the actual amount of rake that you are credited with, simply divide the amount of rake taken by the number of players dealt into the hand. If there are 10 players dealt into the hand, you are credited with 10% of any rake taken."

If this is the case then am I not better off opening as many tables as possible and not really playing? e.g. say I only play QQ+ and fold all else. Wont my MGR go through the roof if I have a huge amount of tables open that i am sitting at?

I am just looking to clear my bonus quickly here for very little risk of course and to then maximize some rakeback.

Any feedback appreciated

Why not just play to win? You will win more money, less risk, and when people know you have a tight range, they will have implied odds to see flops whenever you are in hands. If you are playing just for bonuses/rakeback thats pretty stupid when you can win more by just playing poker.

Hmmm, so far my playing to win has led me on a 15 buyin downswing at 25NL At this point I am completely open to "stupid" if it makes me bonus money at a greatly decreased risk factor. While I slowly recoup the confidence factor

Not necessarily "low risk". Probably even more risk in my opinion. At micro stakes, full ring, the bonus and rakeback is going to clear/generate incredibly slow. Unless you play with complete idiots, you are not going to be profitting in this situation. Unless you are winning a sizable pot every time you have QQ+ you will not be making enough money. Again, people can just get in pots with you for cheap every time you are in, and their implied odds will be huge.

Playing for just bonuses/rakeback is stupid in my opinion. If you aren't looking to improve your game by playing real poker, you obviously will not improve.

If you are really doing this because of the risk factor, maybe poker isn't for you. Poker is going to always have risk, and it is your job to push those +EV edges you have in order to make money. If you want to make money without risk just get a job. It will definitely be more +EV. You can put it on resumes, work experiences, gain social interaction with people, and it will be mentally/emotionally easier on you. Anyone who is content with living off solely the rakeback from 25nl will never be able to move up.

15 Buyin downswings is no reason to abandon everything you learned in poker. I've gone on bigger downswings in shorter amounts of time. It isn't fun, but these are the times when you are tested to see if you are really mentally wired for poker. If you think doing this "strategy" in order to make a little money is going to help your confidence, you need to think again. What happens when you build your roll, and want to start playing real poker? You will have the thought in the back of your mind that you have just been dicking around playing a 3/1 style which might not even be profitable in the first place.

Don't take my comments too harshly. I am just saying my opinions, and I think you can will be a better poker player if you can grind through hard times like these.

I am always looking to improve but I am also willing to slow it down from time to time to take a break while still trying to build the BR.

I figure my PhD in physics (you can call me Dr Zayphod if it makes you feel better ), my job with CSIRO plus previous work with Los Alamos National Laboratories has left me both mentally and emotionally able to cope with many things in life. Why would I want to live off of the rake from 25NL? My god man how much do you think I earn in my job

This is not my first down swing shove and even playing eight tables I am not playing a 3/1 style nor am I abandoning what I have learned. I think what I have learned allows me to do a bonus grind with much smaller risk than someone who is new to the game.

Would never do that mate. Please don't take my comments back as being harsh either. But jumping to conclusions about my employment, mental and emotional state is always going to get a retort

But I do appreciate your advice all the same and take it in the vain that it was offered. Which is well meaning and genuine.
Cheers
