Default NL100 JJ's decision

This is my first post i'm not sure if i'm posting it right but i have been a big fan of this site and love all the vids.

Villian who initially opened was 20/10/2 at the time over 50 hands no other reads. The short stacker who shoved was 23/20/13 over 400+ hands i'm not sure but i think he was a pro SS i may be wrong though,so i think his range is much stronger for shoving over a UTG open.

Thoughts???

Poker Stars $0.50/$1 No Limit Hold'em - 6 players

CO: $69.30
BTN: $100.00
Hero (SB): $104.15
BB: $131.80
UTG: $98.00
MP: $17.60

Pre Flop: ($1.50) Hero is SB with J:spade: J:diamond:
UTG raises to $4, MP raises to $17.60 all in, Hero??

Calling the shove should be pretty marginal. And since UTG seems pretty tight, I think I would tend towards folding here.

Default i agree

short stacks just do not seem to shove light so at best you are 50/50 or dominated. The initial raiser is so tight he can fight the short stack as far as I am concerned.

This, and UTG has a strong range that you have to be worried about too. I probably muck this.

Why? You're ahead of shortstackers range, UTG is what should worry you the most. I could call and fold to UTG shoving...

You don't want to shove, because UTG still calls you with anything that beats your JJ, so his range (or what it matters to you) doesn't change at all if you just flatcall that. Also, you would do the same with AA-KK, so it's really hard for UTG to call/shove even with QQ or AK.

Nobody will ever try to bluff you off a dry side pot, so you are getting a free showdown whenever you beat UTG, so you don't really have to make any difficult decisions postflop even if the UTG just calls.

---------

So my opinion is that either fold or call (and fold to UTG raise/shove) is the best way to go. Shoving is by far the worst one.

I would fold with this UTG, but if UTG was 28/25 I would call.

If we assume that shortstack is competent player, he's shoving range is probably like 22+, AQ+ and we have 62.5% equity against that range. There's also dead money (blinds + UTG raise) if the UTG folds, so I'd say that calling and folding to a UTG raise/shove could be +EV.

Even against 77+, AQ+ we have 57.2% equity.
