Default small to medium pocket pairs?

how do you guys play pocket pairs like 77 and 88's facing a 3bet? 22's to 66's will most likely be a fold right?

It depends on effective stack size, position, villain tendencies, your image, history, gameflow, and table conditions.

On the most basic set mining level, you need to need to be getting 10 to 1 on your money when you hit a set. So the Villains have to have, remaining in their chip stack added to what is in the pot, way more than 10x whatever you have to put in to call this 3 bet.

The reason that you have to be getting way more than 10x when you stack off is to balance the times that you only get 3x return when they fold to your first bet.

This + betsizing ofcours.

But assuming this is small stakes and the player is an average TAG with 100bb stack, 3betting to 3-4 times your raise:
In position: I'd call most, because he will often give up with AK/AQ on low boards so I can pick up those pots and I can easily get away if I miss my set.

Out of position: fold all small pockets, call with 99+ and try to get to showdown (sometimes fold 99 if I think they are really tight)
