Default Double or Nothing

What types of strategies are people using to win at this game? What type of stats are people ending up with, and at what level are you seeing this sucsess or failure at?

Also, be prepared to give up huge amounts of chip EV in return for $ EV.

e.g. 6 people left in a 10 handed DoN SnG, you have 3k, there's a 1k stack and a 0.5k stack, blinds are 1k/2k, you should be laying down every hand pf including AA.

I have a moderate win rate over 600+ games, but the majority of my games are at the $5 and $10 range. Does anyone play at a higher level? and what is a normal roi on those higher levels? Is the competion that much tougher?

thanks for everyones replies so far

Mostly play solid tight and examine ICM model. When you are favourite at least over 2 players don't call all in.

These are pretty boring to play. I played 4 last night and super tight seems to be the way to go.

I had a friend playing these and he was playing the opposite of uber tight in the early stages. His thinking was that people are playing uber tight (as confirmed from above) and that he could raise with a fair amount of impunity and fold to any serious resistance if he had squat.

This let him build a reasonable stack for a small amount of risk and generally let him then coast into the money as the blinds got larger and everyone started to employ the same strategy of increasing the aggression as the blinds went up.

i think his thinking makes a lot of sense. If everyone is playing tight the uber tight strategy is flawed as it will become a push fest for almost everyone as the blinds get large. If you already have a decent stack though (from looser play in the earlier stages) you can now play tight and wait for better hands. E.g. you are always working in the opposite mode of play to those around you.

Lol so he stole the blinds when they were at 10/20, 15/30? thats not going to get him very far, especially when not every plays uber tight.

I recently played a few of these against this multitabler called 'crdcounter' on Stars and I was a bit shocked to see his sharkscope: the man has no variance whatsoever; his graph is like an arrow shooting straight up.

I know he's using ICM and all but how can he manage no variance at all?
