1. High card factor, certainly. A 2-gapper isn't worth much, and J high is stronger than 9 high enough to warrant a raise. Both hands are fairly weak, though, and is essentially pure steals, so there is no strong reason why I cannot raise fold. As such, yes, J5 is stronger, but, no, it wasn't the deciding factor. It's okay to randomize your decision based on game flow, and when you're not clear on the EV of raising a hand, you might as well raise the slightly stronger ones.
2. Folding JTo to a minraise? I would think that that is a leak unless stack sizes were crazy, I can't find it in this video, do you mean another one? Q6s is not the best hand to defend with, on the other hand, but decent to 3bet or 4bet with. Defending in some spots is fine too.
3. Essentially, yes, but calling could be okay, too, but higher variance. Against many other villains calling with those hands would be better. It's close, and I decided it's close enough that I want to extend the game and lower variance because of my edge.
4. You widen your range at shorter stacks because the pot (your potential reward) is now much better in comparison to your risk (the remainder of your stack which you have less than 50% in equity in general due to position. The equity disparity depends on your opponent's skill, of course).
Note that if this hand is always checked down, ie. you will not have to risk any of the remainder of your stack, you're calling with ATC, so any reason for NOT calling a hand is because you will lose money postflop. The smaller your stack, the less you can lose, the less of a factor this becomes. Also, the more your edge is against an opponent, the less you want to fold.
58s is a playable hand.
5. His raise range is tight enough that it is not super weak, so there isn't to much value in 3betting. I also did not feel like I have too much fold equity. A lot of my hands were hand that I can flat with, so I didn't get into a situation where light 3bet is clearly more profitable.
I will have a game 2 against this opponent where I'll make some fun preflop plays, so look out for that.
