Hi Guys, I just want to say that the videos on this site have been very helpful for my game. It's really interesting to see the thought process behind your plays. One thing I really love about some of the videos is when you pull the session into Hold'em Manager or PokerTracker and examine your session for a few minutes. It would really be helpful for me to know what kinds of things I should be looking for and what kinds of objective questions I should be asking about my own play. Thanks, keep up the great work! |

I've been asking this for a while now and posted basically the same request in the "Questions/Comments" section... I also liked Trikkur's HM HUD setup on the PokerStars vid. I remember in one of the 1st vids on the site at FT, he went through what stats he was using for PT. I'm signing up for a rakeback account on Cake tomorrow. Maybe that'll mean that my posts are ignored less. |

Everyone requests stats at the end of videos, but you have to remember they are almost useless after 1 session. You really have to wait for a few thousand hands to even start to get an accurate representation of almost any of them. I might be able to show vpip/pfr but even that could be skewed over 500-1000 hands.

I think it's helpful to see which stats may fluctuate wildly over a short session (such as a very high VPIP/PFR, very low river aggression, or very high won at showdown) and which won't (you won't ever really play 12/10 over the whole session--if you aren't getting cards you'll exploit that tight image in appropriate spots--and you'll never have really low flop aggression). It's interesting to see what variation there can be in the statistics while playing a solid game. |

I'm in the boat that don't really see much value in stat review after less than a minimum of 10K or so hands, and actually more like 50K. Even when I was a complete beginner when I watched Trikkur's stat review in the first videos after like 300-400 hand session I was thinking, "Why is he doing this? Stats are totally meaningless over sample size this short" heh. I think people tend to concentrate on stats way too much, myself included. If anything, I fear placing even more emphasis on it could actually be counterproductive. Just pointing at your stats at a tracker and repeating "none of this means anything" would be okay I guess. Reviewing key hands however is invaluable, in videos as well as self-evaluation. I think they're the best part in both, really. I would always appreciate if there was more. |
